EVANGELION STORE (エヴァンゲリオンストア, Evu~angerion sutoa?) also known as EVA STORE (エヴァ・ストア?) is the official store for products related to the EVANGELION series. It opened on 15 December 2005 as an online store, and later introducing physical stores in various locations around Japan. The stores are managed by Groundworks Co., ltd..
History[]
Since the franchise's inception in 1995, many Evangelion-branded products have been produced, mainly in Japan. These are very diverse and range from the usual figurines, modeling building kits, card, clothes, illustrations, to more particular things like lighters, towels, or kitchen utensils for example.
To celebrate the franchise's tenth anniversary, GAINAX decided to create an official store called EVANGELION STORE on the Internet. The site was officially launched on 15 December 2005 and already offered exclusive products. In this case, it was possible to order a limited edition unpublished figurine between 22 November 2005 and 10 January 2006.
On 08 July 2011, the EVANGELION STORE website announced the opening of a permanent EVA STORE in Tokyo's Harajuku district in the fall. Like its web counterpart, the store offered a certain number of exclusive products, but it was able to host special events such as exhibitions or meetings. The store finally opened on 23 November 2011 and was accompanied by some elements revealing the characters of the then next film, Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo.
A new store opened the following year in Hakone, the location where the events of the Evangelion franchise take place. It was intended to be a very different store from its counterpart in Tokyo. But in 2019, three new EVA STORES opened in Fukuoka and Tokyon, taking up the spirit of the first store. Among them, a specialized store to sell the RADIO EVA brand. In 2020, a sixth store opened in Osaka. Various pop-up and limited stores opens and close depending of the locations for special events.
