File:OysterBay.jpg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Feelinsoryan (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).

Image claimed to be own work, "taken on helicopter tour". However, this image dosen't look like that at all, it looks like it was taken from professional (commercial) aerial image providers. --TheImaCow (talk) 21:54, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Speedy Delete - A quick search of Google Images turns up an identical image here, where it is under copyright. This image therefore meets criterion WP:F9 for WP:SPEEDY. -- Fhsig13 (talk) 02:10, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, but not F9, as the aforementioned site is pretty clearly a backwards copy of Wikipedia (it includes attribution when you scroll down and click "open" next to the map). Either way, the own work claim is certainly dubious, absent some highly unlikely clarification by the uploader. ⟲ Three Sixty! Talk? Work. 02:59, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep and move to commons. From the uploader's history they seem to have had involvement in a lot of helicopter related activities and the Australian emergency services. The quality of the image doesn't seem professional to me at all. The F9 claim is not valid as said above, it's a backwards copy. Seems plausible some guy working for Australian EMS took an image and added it to Wikipedia, and the quality of the image (not professional) and lack of (non wikipedia mirror) uploads elsewhere online reinforce my belief in this PARAKANYAA (talk) 03:36, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm not familiar with aerial photography, so I'll very well accept that the image is not professional if a more experienced user thinks so. Looking at the user's upload history: Special:Redirect/logid/3379329, where the user uploaded an image of Jennifer Lopez, claiming "Own Photo", but the image was soon deleted as a confirmed copyvio, see Special:Permalink/63128892. This is cause to question the trustworthiness of the "own work" claims. However, I see some mitigating factors. The Lopez image was copied from the web, but none of the remaining ones at Special:ListFiles/Feelinsoryan turn up independent copies on the internet. Based on this and the topic pattern PARAKANYAA found, I'm striking my delete !vote. ⟲ Three Sixty! Talk? Work. 18:34, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • I am also striking my Speedy Delete vote and changing it to Delete, as we still can't prove that image is the uploader's own work, so unless they prove it for us, the chance remains that is a non-free image (looks to me like it was taken from Google Earth or similar software) and so keeping it would violate the WP:NFCC policy. -- Fhsig13 (talk) 22:20, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as missing evidence of permission. This does look suspiciously like a satellite photo (e.g. screenshot from Google Maps) and barring more details/confirmation from the uploader we should not be hosting this -Fastily 08:21, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
