Hi @The Account 2,

Nice work on Political Consultative Conference (1946)! Just a small issue. Could you please provide a source for the entire "Membership" section? Cheers, --The Lonely Pather (talk) 19:41, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I added a source. The Account 2 (talk) 20:44, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Turkey

[edit]

Please be careful in editing the 2024 Turkish local elections. You appear to have wiped off several pieces of existing data twice while adding new information. Borgenland (talk) 13:34, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, sorry. I will be more careful next time. The Account 2 (talk) 13:35, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Technical help

[edit]

Pardon for interrupting you with a question that I could (and indeed already have) asked on Teahouse, but I am impatient to fix a technical error I created, as I hate for errors to remain. I see that you are active now from my article pages on my watchlist.

I have malformed a move request here. How do I fix it so I can properly initiate the request? I am trying to edit in visual, as I am not so good at the formatting in source. Is visual the issue?

Do not feel you need to respond if you are busy however, I will get an answer via Teahouse at some point, I am certain. JArthur1984 (talk) 15:47, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You just need to remove the < nowiki > parts as they're blocking the mechanism from activating. The Account 2 (talk) 15:49, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the technical advice, it allowed me to fix it. JArthur1984 (talk) 16:09, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. Cheers! The Account 2 (talk) 16:14, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Central Rural Work Leading Group

[edit]

Do you have any sources for the Leadership section of the Central Rural Work Leading Group? I'm currently going through 20th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party to make sure each officeholder and their date of appointment is correct, and I cannot find any sources as to Liu Guozhong becoming the leader of the Leading Group on March 12, 2023. This article from 2022 and this article from 2021 both refer to Liu as the Head of the Leading Group, but I have yet to find a source with a date of appointment. Atop21 (talk) 20:34, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello; I do have a source that does indeed confirm Liu is currently the head of the Central Rural Work Leading Group, but there are likely no sources available to show the date he was appointed. The problem is that China has one of the most secretive system of personnel appointments in the world, as they virtually never publicly announce appointments to Party and State bodies like this; their membership is usually either inferred through past experience or revealed through meetings of the body (such as in the link I posted). So it's very unlikely anyone can find a date on when exactly Liu was appointed as the group leader. The Account 2 (talk) 20:47, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for your quick response! The source you linked says that Liu gave a speech at the Central Rural Work Conference, but it states his positions solely as member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council with no mention of the Leading Group, unless I'm translating something wrong?
Thank you for the information regarding the lack of transparency of appointments. Given this, how have you found the months of appointment for each leader listed in the article? Atop21 (talk) 21:15, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Honestly, looking at it, you seem to be right. The problem is that, as I mentioned, these decisions are never announced publicly, so we are only left with guesses such as that since Liu Guozhong is the Vice Premier responsible for rural affairs, he must also be the leader of the Central Rural Work Leading Group (which all previous Vice Premiers responsible for rural affairs were). I translated the dates from the Chinese page, which I assume are based on when Liu and his predecessors were appointed vice premier. The Account 2 (talk) 21:32, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, the vast majority of the dates in the Chinese page are also unsourced, with the exception of two deputies and some of the office leadership. I'm not entirely sure what the best course of action would be WRT the English page, as removing all the unsourced information would leave the page largely blank, but I have yet to find anything to substantiate the dates and I'm not sure if anything of the sort exists given the lack of transparency. Atop21 (talk) 17:10, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, the problem is that Chinese politics, especially at the top level, is one of the most secretive on earth. To give an idea, the only times we see Xi Jinping in his office is during his new year speeches (imagine if we only saw the Oval Office once a year...)
