Welcome to Wikipedia, Rca institute! I am Kodster and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or by typing {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome! I wrote you an answer on my talk page because I like to keep discussions together instead of breaking them up. Click here to see my response. All the best, Kodster (heLLo) (Me did that) 20:49, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, I responded on my talk page. Also, if you want to sign your comments, just add it to the end, don't create another section please. Thanks. Kodster (heLLo) (Me did that) 21:05, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it is the name of an organisation, implying that this is a shared account; an account should only be used by one person. If this account belongs an individual, this name could be misleading; also as the name of an organisation it may appear to be promotional.. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may file for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Thank you. snigbrook (talk) 17:48, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Answer: The username for this account is for a single user and has only been accessed by myself. The page should not be perceived as promotional, but informational by listing outside references and citations. A not-for-profit organization called the RCA Institute does exist, set up for the purposes of answering specific accounting questions that may fall outside the scope of Wikipedia for the general public to further discuss Resource Consumption Accounting. The user name here was set up with the intention that the Wikipedia content would not appear to be owned by a single individual. If you believe this is incorrect then a username change will be requested and carried out as indicated. Rca institute (talk) 17:45, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, Rca institute, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. -- Cirt (talk) 05:41, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

It's about time. You have ALREADY created the new account, which as noted has already been blocked until you resolve a whole bunch of problems. Here are a few key questions:

You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the 3 important principles above. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 11:55, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

To address concerns

[edit]

User name was created in 2008, but not to promote or profit, (the RCA Institute is a not-for-profit organization), but from an educational perspective on advanced management accounting topics. I am not employed by RCA Institute, and read the conflict of interest/business directory links you cited. I do not wish to write about or promote the RCA Institute, but I have referenced it was a source of information (www.rcainstitute.org). Should this external link and/or citation be removed ?

I believe that I requested to be unblocked and understand that I need to rename my account so that it complies with wikipedia policy and doesn't appear as a conflict of interest. I did not understand the wiki steps.

I will wait to hear back from admin. then submit a new username, is that correct? I am making every effort to comply. If there is something I am missing, or need further clarification on please advise. Thanks Rca institute (talk) 17:52, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I noted that you have already created the new account, so you have already skipped ahead of the steps that were provided here when you were first blocked. This account had 2 problems: it violated the username policy and was being used to promote an organization by that name, contrary to conflict of interest. The organization does not need to be a corporate entity to be promoted. You should also note that an article cannot be sourced to the organizations own website: that does not qualify as a third party reliable source. Not all organizations are notable enough to deserve an encylopedia article. The reason your new account was already blocked was because you continued the same series of edits. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 18:03, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
New account should be cancelled and no edits have been made. With respect, I don't know what you mean by "continued the same series of edits". Will this account still be considered becoming unblocked? Thanks Rca institute (talk) 20:36, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The RCA one will never be unblocked because of the violation of WP:U. The underlying IP address can be unblocked so that the new id can be used. You will note I struck a portion of my comment above (I had been thinking of another block from today). I'm still not convinced that you do not have WP:COI, but I will unblock the IP ... you may use the other account shortly. You will need to link this account and the new account ... I will give you assistance with this shortly. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 22:18, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I definitely understand why I cannot continue to use Rca_institute because of WP:U. Thank you for unblocking my new account and admitting your error (mistaking me for another user). I will use third party citations to avoid sourcing WP:COI "to the organizations own website". I will wait for your assistance on linking as promised. Thanks again, Rca institute (talk) 15:13, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
