Please explain how you derive numerical nomenclature for historic versions of articles to which one can revert. Also, do you suggest that I used popups? If so, I don't know how to! Please explain your reversion and reasoning on the site referenced. Many thanks--confused, aka--GRM 22:32, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Long time no see; welcome back

[edit]

Hi Phidauex, Hadn't seen you around for a while, so it's nice to see you back on wikipedia... I'm completely swamped the past week or two, so my contributions are pretty much limited to vandalism, and a few things on my most important pages. Hopefully after the New Year things will quiet down for me a bit, and I can have a go at adding more about Rama's other topics, and perhaps making the push to get synesthesia up to FA status. [edit]

Hi Phidauex,

I was looking at "wheatgrass" in Wikipedia and noticed that you had removed a link to Wheatgrass Juice Health Experiences. It is critical to remove pure commercial links but I think the health experiences link fits the Wikipedia model of complete information.

Wheatgrass Juice Health Experiences is directly linked to a forum (not a sales page) at http://www.dynamicgreens.com/wheatgrassforum/forumdisplay.php?f=10 This forum contains the only source of wheatgrass health experiences on the Internet and is the primary source for the health stories shared in the wheatgrass Bible called "Wheatgrass - Nature's Finest Medicine" by Steve Meyerowitz.

I put the link back up before writing this note to you as I didn't understand the process. It would be terrific if you could consider these thoughts when you review the topic next as the intention is only to add value to Wikipedia.

Sincerely,

Derek Stem DynamicGreens derek.stem@dynamicgreens.com http://www.dynamicgreens.com 1-877-910-0467 —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.94.135.33 (talk) 15:14, 22 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Inkscape diagrams

[edit]

Hey, a while back you helped me convert some Inkscape SVGs into a Wikipedia-compatible format, leaving instructions on my talk page to do so. I recently revisited one of my earlier diagrams and improved it, but have been unable to follow your instructions adequately to convert it into the proper format. The image in question is Image:ALFConcept.svg on Wikipedia as you uploaded it; the newest version is on the Commons at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:ALFConcept.svg. I tried very hard to follow your directions, but could only come up with what you see in the Common image's history. Are you actually using Inkscape to do the conversions? What version of the program? I swear that I followed to the letter, "select all text and choose Path>Object to Path to convert text to paths, then select all the lines that use line styles other than basic stroke thickness, and choose Path>Stroke to Path. Then save as a Plain SVG, and upload." Where could I have screwed up? Thanks in advance. -- Rmrfstar 03:40, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

glyphosate page

[edit]

hi there! i have been editing the glyphosate page and have added material both supportive of monsantos product and linked to their page and i have added material asking questions of it as from greenpeace and scientific sources.. An editor "Ttguy" has been repeatedly removing material from this page and just from one side (anything that might look bad for monsanto)...first he uses the excuse that things arnt referenced yet they always are, his next step is to try and remove the references themselves using various excuses...he only edits in a narrow spectrum just removing things that arent pro-monsanto products and pro GM food...i myself am pro-GE tech yet this type of "erasure" of information detailing problems and unflattering material to the manufacturers i find bad faith lobbiest editing...he is now trying to summon the power to block me from editing alltogether...i may reinstate some material i once added that was pro-monsanto ( i began removing my own pro-monsanto sentences as the page was becoming unbalanced as Ttguy just kept removing anything not pro-monsanto)..however i feel someone else needs to head to the page..i am tired of single handedly & continually battling his blankings and removals of factual cited material...Benjiwolf 17:01, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Helping out with the Unassessed Wikipedia Biographies

[edit]

Seeing that you are an active member of the WikiBiography Project, I was wondering if you would help lend a hand in helping us clear out the amount of [unassessed articles] tagged with {{WPBiography}}. Many of them are of stub and start class, but a few are of B or A caliber. Getting a simple assessment rating can help us start moving many of these biographies to a higher quality article. Fair use rationale for Image:Dave_Matthews_Band_-_All_Along_The_Watchtower.ogg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Dave_Matthews_Band_-_All_Along_The_Watchtower.ogg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 09:11, 12 May 2007 (UTC) [reply]

GAC backlog elimination drive

[edit]

This form message is being sent to you either due to your membership with WikiProject Good Articles and/or your inclusion on the Wikipedia:Good article candidates/List of reviewers. A new drive has been started requesting that all members review at least one article (or more, if you wish!) within the next two weeks at GAC to help in removing the large backlog. This message is being sent to all members, and even members who have been recently reviewing articles. There are almost 130 members in this project and about 180 articles that currently need to be reviewed. If each member helps to review just one or two articles, the majority of the backlog will be cleared. Since the potential amount of reviewers may significantly increase, please make sure to add :{{GAReview}} underneath the article you are reviewing to ensure that only one person is reviewing each article. Additionally, the GA criteria may have been modified since your last review, so look over the criteria again to help you to determine if a candidate is GA-worthy. If you have any questions about this drive or the review process, leave a message on the GAC talk page. --Nehrams2020 00:08, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

July 2007 GAC backlog elimination drive

[edit]

A new elimination drive of the backlog at Wikipedia:Good article candidates will take place from the month of July through August 12, 2007. There are currently about 130 articles that need to be reviewed right now. If you are interested in helping with the drive, then please visit Wikipedia:Good article candidates backlog elimination drive and record the articles that you have reviewed. Awards will be given based on the number of reviews completed. If you have any questions about this drive or the review process, leave a message on the drive's talk page. Please help to eradicate the backlog to cut down on the waiting time for articles to be reviewed.

You have received this message either due to your membership with WikiProject: Good Articles and/or your inclusion on the Wikipedia:Good article candidates/List of reviewers. --Nehrams2020 23:37, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

I believe this fits fair use as it is reduced resolution, as not been complained about since you tagged it and more importantly fits securely under:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Non-free_content

Acceptable images

8. Images with iconic status or historical importance: As subjects of commentary.

These scientists are trully historical icons that should be remembered visually as their work as been so misconstrued by the DEA etc. Here you can see a normal loving couple who could have helped so many people without Draconian laws that still demonize innocent people.

The normalcy of this photo lends a great deal to the article and the article would suffer great prejudice without this picture.

But I'm new to this aspect but am highly educated and involved in computers and free software since the 1970s.

I would like to contribute without being called a vandal.

[edit]

Hello, I just started here at wiki, my main access to the internet is at the Millennium Library in Winnipeg, MB, CA. I was mainly motivated by my interested in extra solar planets and what I think I can contribute. I have been very frustrated with the mess that has been left at the article for planet "Gliese 581 c." Specifically the all the assumsions and speculations. There is a fair bit of sound reasoning that is being ignored there for the sake of pandering to publicity. This planet is by far NOT Earth-like, it is much more Venus-like than anything else. I despise the the term "Super-Earth" and think it may be popular with the media, but it has no genuine scientific validity in the way it is being used. It leaves out "Super-Venus," "Super-Mars," "Super-Mercury," etc. and ignores the simple fact that in our solar system these are all called "Terrestrials," as opposed to "Gas Giant." But who is going to listen to this reasoning when it is easier to pander to the media. I am mentioning this to you becuase I don't presume to just start making changes. I know that someone who just takes it upon themselves to start making changes can get labled a vandal. I have started [relatively] simple, and begun to add this chart where I think (HZ planets) it would be of use:

Planet Distance Insolation (W/m2) % of Earth's
55 Cnc f Apastron Flux 380.136 27.74%
Mars' Aphelion Flux 494.00 36.06%
55 Cnc f Average Flux 547.395 39.99%
Mars' Average Flux 590.589 43.11%
Mars' Perihelion Flux 718.545 52.45%

Earth's Average Flux 1369.938 100.00%
Earth's Perihelion Flux 1416.896 103.43%
Venus' Aphelion Flux 2,585.411 188.72%
Venus' Average Flux 2,620.693 191.30%

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Shulgin.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Shulgin.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 07:37, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA Sweeps invitation

[edit]

Hello, I hope you are doing well. I am sending you this message since you are a member of the GA WikiProject. I would like to invite you to consider helping with the GA sweeps process. Sweeps helps to ensure that the oldest GAs still meet the criteria, and improve the quality of GAs overall. Unfortunately, last month only two articles were reviewed. This is definitely a low point after our peak at the beginning of the process when 163 articles were reviewed in September 2007. After nearly two years, the running total has just passed the 50% mark. In order to expediate the reviewing, several changes have been made to the process. A new worklist has been created, detailing which articles are left to review. All exempt and previously reviewed articles have already been removed from the list. Instead of reviewing by topic, you can consider picking and choosing whichever articles interest you.

We are always looking for new members to assist with the remaining articles, so if you are interested or know of anybody that can assist, please visit the GA sweeps page. In addition, for every member that reviews 100 articles or has a significant impact on the process, s/he will get an award when they reach that threshold. If only 14 editors achieve this feat starting now, we would be done with Sweeps! Of course, having more people reviewing less articles would be better for all involved, so please consider asking others to help out. Feel free to stop by and only review a few articles, something's better than nothing! Take a look at the list, and see what articles interest you. Let's work to complete Sweeps so that efforts can be fully focused on the backlog at GAN. If you have any questions about the process, reviewing, or need help with a particular article, please contact me or OhanaUnited and we'll be happy to help. --Happy editing! Orphaned non-free image (File:Shulgin.jpg)

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Shulgin.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. meco (talk) 09:38, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the image from the two Shulgin articles where it was used since it is a replaceable non-free image and thus inapplicable for use on an article about a living person. __meco (talk) 09:39, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
WikiProject Good Articles will be running a GAN backlog elimination drive for the entire month of April. The goal of this drive is to bring the number of outstanding Good Article nominations down to below 200. This will help editors in restoring confidence to the GAN process as well as actively improving, polishing, and rewarding good content. If you are interested in participating in the drive, please place your name here. Awards will be given out to those who review certain numbers of GANs as well as to those who review the most. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve.
