From User talk:Srikeit: as Nichalp did when he tried to gatecrash the Aucaman arbitration and decided to try and get Zora banned -- err... from this statement it appears that I was trying to get Zora banned, which I was not. Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 11:46, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't word it very well. I meant "he" in the sense of Anwar, and was referring to you rebutting Anwar's claims against Zora. Sorry.ßlηguγΣη | Have your say!!! - review me 00:08, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FPC

[edit]

Hi again Nicholas, and thanks for your note. Regarding the photo of the Hiranandani Complex, I'll do my best to give you an opinion on it although do take this with a pinch of salt as I'm no photographer myself, and I freely admit that most of what I know about digital photography has been the result of hanging about here at FPC since last summer. After being so critical on the FPC nomination I really wish I could give you an unqualified 'Yes!' on this one but I have to say I think it would struggle at FPC for technical reasons — although I guess retaking it would be possible for you since you live in Mumbai. Specifically, the white balance looks a bit warm and there is chroma noise in the shadows that would be difficult to correct; and only the area round the truck is in focus. I'd crop out some of the foreground too. Lastly, people do like to see detail on buildings, the more the better, so if the development in the background is part of the main subject I'd consider retaking it with more than one frame, and a bit earlier in the day while the light is stronger. Stitched-together panoramas have become pretty much normal for cityscapes. Is that some kind of racing track? Looks like fun :-) ~ VeledanTalk 19:29, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for blocking me. I learnt my lesson. I know I was rude and way out of my mind. I am going to apologize to Zora. But hear me out too. She kept reverting my edits without thought. It was rapid. She could've edited and incorporated some of my ideas like others did. Or she could've just left the page as it is for others to dwell on. Anyway, I think you should check out Rani's page now. It is much professional. Zora cut all the references from it earlier. I had to put them back. Plumcouch and Pa7 were doing great until Zora changed everything to back as it was. Now, the page is much more up-to-date. Please ask someone to tone it down if they think I did more than required but please ask Zora not to revert my last edit completely. Thank You! shez_15 19:49, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think the article is ready for a peer review. The only major work left in my eyes is creating an article on Municipal Corporation of Delhi and New Delhi Municipal Council. Any suggestions?? Cheers --Incman|वार्ता 00:05, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nichalp, I think WikiProject Indian cities has very strict rules regarding the content of articles on Indian cities. For example, shopping is an integral part of Delhi's culture and deserves its own subsection. But going by the guidelines in the concerned WikiProject, it should not be there. Also, isn't Sports a part of the city's culture? Then why have an entire section on it? Another question, why shouldn't there be any subsections? --Incman|वार्ता 04:59, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nichalp abd Deepak, one thing we should remember, this project has produced 6 FAs. So the effectiveness of the guidelines is beyond doubt. However, with a lot more cities being worked on (2 are in peer review, and at least 2 more getting readied), it's high time we review the project, may be get some feedback some others. Some sort of flexibilities can be incorporated, keeping in view the diverse nature of the cities, as Deepak has pointed out.
Too much subsectioning rather hinders the reading. Also makes the ToC clumsy. However, a ew subsectioning is acceptable/ However, subsectioning creates another problem. Thebalance of size between different sections is lost (with subsections, Delhi culture is gonna be much larger than, say, Economy of Delhi. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 10:00, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nichalp, I've had a tough month, tight schedule and some Internet issues; shall soon be putting up an excerpt and video online - never got around to put an organized document about the meet. There were many blog posts about the meet and some photos on flickr, though. And the meet was covered on all the major Newspapers. Anyways, shall link to those in my write up. Zora

[edit]

I have tried to talk to Zora but she still reverts my edits. If you could just go to Rani Mukerji's page and see it for yourself. She keeps cutting down all the references which are required on a page. You can look back in history and compare my version to Zora's. I think you are really respected here. You are my last hope into judging this case. I haven't done anything wrong, simply, upgraded Rani's page into something more professional. I have asked Zora to tone it down a bit. But she keeps reverting it to a month older version. Thank you! shez_15 01:18, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Joseph Vijay article

[edit]

Hello, Nicholas, sorry to bother you again. We have a small problem at the Joseph Vijay and Ajith pages -- again. An anon (I'm not sure if it's the same anon, since there are frequent IP adress changes) keeps vandalizing the page. (Just check to history -- it's really hard to miss). Could you maybe protect the page for a while so not-logged-in-users may not change it? Maybe s/he'll adopt a user name and we can properly talk to him. Best regards, --Plumcouch 18:46, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

IIT for FAC

[edit]

Hi Nichalp,

Can you please do a quick review to tell if the IIT article is ready for FAC or not. I have addressed almost all the issues and feel its about time. Looking back when I said similar words the last time, I understand that there was still a lot of ground to cover before FAC. I hope it will be upto your expectations now. If not, please tell what more can be improved. In the meantime, I have standardized the references which bloated the article by another 5kb, though nothing substantially more was visible in the article. I asked Nirav about it and he thought that size isn't a critical issue if the article is good enough. Hopefully I will be able to put it up for FAC before next week with your help. Seeing that before you used to point major flaws and now you are pointing minor corrections, I feel that the time is getting nearer. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 20:06, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rani Mukerji

[edit]

I did follow Lindsay Lohan's page in particular. My format was being used on the page for a month until recently when zora reverted everything back to a month older version. So, it's not me who's been reverting. It's zora. Anyway, I thought you might help me! I know you're busy! But on my part, I tried to segment the page and make it informative. What zora's version gives is only facts. There is no flow in sentences. I guess you won't help me! But please don't block me for working on Rani's page. I'm seriously using Lindsay Lohan's format. I don't think you saw my version. I told you to go in history. Well thanks but no thanks! shez_15 18:18, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nicholas - could you please guide me on the deletion of two user IDs that I created - Nirav.maurya (talk · contribs) and J i s h n u (talk · contribs)? While the latter was my first incarnation and has contributions and talkpage histories, the latter was an ID I created while trying to decide a new user ID - I settled for Rama's Arrow after rejecting this one. Minor problem with the SVG map of Organizational Structure of IITs

[edit]

Hi,

I can see a black rectangle besides the Organizational Structure Image. Is it deliberately added? Furthermore, I think you missed a line below Director/Deputy Director that connects to the next level below. The image added by you created the impression that HOD, President (student's council), etc are below Registrar. Also, can you make few more corrections. "President Student's Council" should read "President, Student's Council" and "Chairman Hall Management" should read "Chairman, Hall Management". Also, the text in some boxes is not centralized. I tried to correct them myself after installing Inkscape, but the image is not editable. Thanks for the improvements. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 15:19, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have fixed the problems. The reason I was not able to edit it was that I downloaded the thumbnail and not the image itself :D. I think I can try the locator map myself. You need not worry. Thanks, -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 16:25, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

regarding User:TAIWAN

[edit]

I am the original blocking admin of this user. As you can see from their contributions TAIWAN (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) The user is not a vandal. However I did request that this user change their username because of the potential conflicts of having a username of a nation/state/dispusted reason, (for more backstory see Wikipedia_talk:Username#Names_of_countries.2C_or_of_large_or_disputed_regions) I asked the user to please file a request on WP:CHU, however the user never made any acknowledgement to my message so I blocked them. Another user placed the indefinate tag on their userpage. Then I agreed to unblock them so that they could file a request. However this user editted an archive instead [1]. Which is why I attempted to make the request on their behalf. Basically I don't want to completely drive this user away from the project, and I just wanted you to be aware of the situation because I noticed your reasoning for denying the request. I have asked the user to make a request again, this time in the correct location, however judging from his/her prior use of talk pages, and prior misreading (or misinterpretation of) the instructions, I am not certain my message will get across. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 17:29, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am still looking for the party of Kurma Venkata Reddy Naidu. I thought of adding photos. Hi! hmm. I did not know the cc-by-nc-2.5 licence is not allowed in WP. This is a problem as all the images in 2006 Indian anti-reservation protests are originally under that license. Thanks for the suggestions. I made some changes ([2]). I hope you and others can comment on the city categorization and color scheme used at {{Infobox Indian Jurisdiction/urban-type}}. Saravask 20:23, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Right now the template defines the categories "metropolitan city" (assigned color #9CAFB4), "capital" (#778899), "city" (#6495ED), "[district] headquarters" (#3673c5), "district" (#D8BFD8), and "#default" (#6495ED). The "#default" cat is assigned to all pages that don't designate one of the above cats. So I need comments on the number of cats (are more needed?) and the current coloring and style/layout. Thanks. Saravask 06:57, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good; it's removed. Saravask 07:26, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Nichalp! Long time no see - I hope you're doing well. Anyways, I noticed that you switched the image on Template:In the news from the .png version to the .svg version. I had switched the preferred .svg file to a .png file because I couldn't upload and protect the .svg version; thus, I switched it to a .png version, which I was able to upload and protect, and then left a request on WP:AN, which seems to have gone answered. Because the .svg image is still unprotected (the image has to be uploaded and then protected; protecting only the image page leaves the image vulnerable to vandalism on Commons, where all changes are reflected here) I've gone ahead and switched the flag back to the protected .png version until the .svg version can be uploaded and protected. Again, see WP:AN#Image protection for more information. Many thanks! Flcelloguy (A note?) 23:58, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Indian current events

[edit]

Hello Joturner, Not sure why you have merged the Indian currents events with the Pakistan even after the consensus did not indicate an unanimous vote of support. Please explain on my talk page. - Ganeshk (talk) 03:57, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

One more thing, It was an archive page of the news displayed on the Portal:India news section. - Ganeshk (talk) 04:01, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, there was no unanimous support, but that unanimous support is not needed to achieve consensus. However, it appeared as though there was a general okay to merge several of the regional current events articles on the merge's discussion page (which, by the way, has been up for a few weeks now). Considering that the page for current events in Pakistan hasn't been updated since March, it only made sense to merge the two related articles into one section. The inclusiveness of all South Asian nations into one article will also allow for events from Bangladesh and Nepal, for example, to be included on one of the regional events pages. Could you please explain the problem you have with the merge? Of course, the Current events in South Asia page needs to cleaned up to reflect the change, so overlook that for now. As the page will still contain past current events for India, is it really a significant problem for Portal:India and Portal:Pakistan. I don't think it's a big deal, but perhaps you disagree. joturner 04:15, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree with the merge. As long as the Indian current events page is active, there is no reason to merge. Pakistan related events may have not been updated since March, so it would better to mark it as inactive as is done to inactive wikiprojects. Merging is not the solution and there was no consensus or even proper support to merge the news pages on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Current events =Nichalp «Talk»= 10:47, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I resplit the articles back into two different articles, one for Pakistan and one for India. joturner 14:58, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
