Kalpana Raghavendar is an Indian playback singer, dubbing artiste, song writer and a child actor. Kalpana started her career as a play back singer at a very early age .Till now She has sung more than 1300 songs in various languages.
She is the Winner of South India’s most prestigious competition Idea Star Singer for Season 5.

Kalpana was Born to T. S. Raghavendar and Sulochana on May 8th. Kalpana’s Father was a play back singer, actor and a composer .Her mother was also a singer. She has a younger sister, Shekinah shawn (prasanna) who is popular as an Opera singer.^[1]. Kalpana's grandmother, Lakshmamma was instrumental in getting her into singing as she used to force kalpana’s father to teach her music. kalpana would listen to songs on the radio and sing, which is when her father noticed kalpana's talent and started teaching her .He used to take her to recordings along with him. She sung her first song for a telugu film when she was around 5 years old.

Kalpana started her career as an actor and a dubbing artiste at a tender age.She acted as a child artiste in 30 movies. Her first movie as a child actor was a malayalam movie called Ee Nadu for which 35 children came for auditions, among them Director I. V. Sasiselected Kalpana, from then she acted for Telugu, Tamil movies like Sitaramakalyanam, Dance master & many others.She also gave her voice to many child actors notably in the Telugu film Anjali.

She started singing at the age of 5 and sang her first song for the music director Saluri Vasurao where she sang a family song alongside Suseela, mano,MM Srilekha,Her sister Prasanna.She sang many songs when when she was a child,"podapoda punnaku" for tamil movie En Raasavin manasinile being one such song. As a grown up , she started her career as a full-fledged play back singer in 1999 by working under music director manisharma & her first song was "magalagouriki" for the telugu movie manoharam. She also worked with many Legendry music directors & singers like Maestro Illayaraja, A.R.Rehman,K.V.Mahadevan,S.P.Balasubrahmanyam,Chithra etc. She sang many beautiful songs in different genres .Inspite of her singing for films,she is more familiar as a stage singer rather than a play back singer. She did plenty of stage shows in different places in India & other countries as well. Below are the few songs listed which were sung by Kalpana for movies.

• Kalpana was a Judge for a Telugu singing competition show “ Bol Baby Bol Gurukul” which was telecasted in Gemini TV.
  
• She came as guest for many singing competition shows in Telugu & Tamil channels.
  
• She is one of the singer in the prestigious show “Swarabhishekam” telecasted in ETV, which features eminent Tollywood playback singers demonstrating their vocal acumen which was started in 2013 & it’s still continuing. ETV conducted this program not only in INDIA but also in other countries like US,UK etc.
  
• Participated as a Team leader for 6 singers in one of the most popular telugu singing reality shows “Super Singer9” organized by Maa TV.

1. Kalpana is the winner of the most prestigious south Indian singing show “Idea Star singer season-5” conducted by Asia-net a Malayalam TV channel in 2010. Even though she is from Tamil Nadu she learnt Malayalam,their traditions & gave mesmerizing performances, got blessings from so many people from Kerala & other states as well. She got standing ovation from K. J. Yesudas,K. S. Chithra,Anuradha Sriram for her semi final & final round performances.
   
2. Winner of a Telugu singing reality show “SuperSinger 9” conducted by Maa TV in 2015.Participated as a team leader with 6 singers as a team. She gave mind blowing performances.
