Thank you :) DesertPipeline (talk) 17:58, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
User:Pppery: Slight problem: it seems to be displaying wrong in the edit notice box on the page. Have I formatted it wrong? It's cut off on the right. DesertPipeline (talk) 18:01, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It looks fine to me. * Pppery * it has begun... 18:19, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
User:Pppery: I have the website appearance where the edit notice is displayed in a small box in the upper right when clicking an exclamation mark triangle. Is it the same for you? I'm wondering if it's just because of that otherwise. DesertPipeline (talk) 18:26, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No, I use a different editing UI that displays the edit notice full width at the top of the page (the 2010 wikitext editor). If I temporarily switch to the editor you are using (which is the 2017 wikitext editor), then I can reproduce the cut-off behavior, but have no idea how to work around it. It's not your fault for formatting your request badly, because it also affects the editnotice you see when editing editnotice talk pages like this one, for example. * Pppery * it has begun... 18:44, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
User:Pppery: I see. Maybe this should be reported somewhere? DesertPipeline (talk) 18:52, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
User:Pppery: Does the {{Editnotice}} template accept the |style= parameter? If so, could you add |style=width: 50%; as a test? If not, can you wrap the entire thing in a <span> tag with the width adjustment there? Thanks, DesertPipeline (talk) 07:52, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Although {{editnotice}} does accept a |style= parameter, from my testing setting it didn't solve the problem. The other approach, of wrapping the content in a div with limited width, did solve the problem for me, so I've done that. The borders of the box are still cut off, but the text isn't. * Pppery * it has begun... 15:07, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
User:Pppery: Thanks; that's a lot better. I find this problem very odd though. Do you know where something like this should be reported? DesertPipeline (talk) 06:45, 12 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
See mw:How to report a bug, although a post to Wikipedia:Village pump (technical) before proceeding might also be warranted. * Pppery * it has begun... 23:58, 12 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
