Apostolic Blessing
[edit]"Apostolic Blessing" redirects here. As far as I know, though, the Apostolic Blessing general refers to the "Sit nomen Domini benedictum... Adjutorium nostrum in nomine Domini" blessing. I don't know enough to write a new article on this though. Could someone please clarify? 91.125.168.115 (talk) 18:30, 25 March 2011 (UTC)Nefertum
Precibus et meritis
[edit]I don't claim any sort of knowledge of Latin above the cursory, but, wouldn't that translate: prayers and merits; so it should read: By the prayers and merits of Blessed Mary ever Virgin, etc.?
===========
[edit]I originally translated 'meritis...' as 'due to...' (giving merit to her), but someone overwrote it with a bit more natural-sounding English. I'm also not an expert on Latin, but it is probably pretty close. I haven't found any other site that offers an English translation, for some reason!

History?
[edit]It is not clear in the article's current form what the history of these Easter and Christmas addresses is. There is a reference to 1650 (wedged in between descriptions of before and after the Italian occupation of a later century), suggesting the practice goes back at least that far.... Does this practice date back to, say, the 3rd century? Some time in between? When did it start? 134.134.139.74 (talk) 12:23, 25 December 2019 (UTC)
