"God" review

[edit]

Noticing no rush to create God (Prince song), I'll just leave this here:

  • Ferguson, Jason (15 June 2012). "Prince's 'God' Inspires A Crisis Of Purple Faith". first worsts, Sound of the City. Village Voice.

As this series is somewhat curated ("a series in which our writers remember the first time...") by The Village Voice, it's (compared to other blogs) a reliable critical source, albeit a slightly frivolous and personal one. / edg 16:05, 21 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"Prince -- lead vocals and various instruments"

[edit]

So is it him or Wendy who plays the guitar? I'm sure this is obvious to those who are familiar with Prince, but some aren't and don't know if he plays the guitar (and I'd be curious to know what else he played). I think there should be some specifics here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.239.201.121 (talk) 04:49, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Both of them are on guitars - Wendy plays the intro chords and Prince is playing the famous solo after the vocals end - his tone and style is obvious. 27.33.8.12 (talk) 12:43, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fun fact

[edit]

Did you know that Purple Rain started out as an instrumental named "Slow Groove", which makes an appearance in the very film? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrakd002.302 (talkcontribs) 06:04, May 18, 2017 (UTC)

Covers?

[edit]

This is one of Prince's best known songs, shouldn't examples of artists covering this song be in the article? Cahlin29 (talk) 20:13, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
