- Bartolomé de las CasasIn his book History of the Indies says Columbus:
"October 12, came to his skiff armed with guns, and most of the people in the quota, also ordered that the same hiciesen and captains to depart and Vicente Yanez Pinzon. Pulled the royal flag Admiral , and the two captains paths 'banners of the green cross, which the Admiral took in all the ships by signal and currency', with an F, meaning the King D. Fernando, and Y, by Queen Doña Ysabel, and each letter above its crown, out of a cross, and one from another. "
He says that the green cross was one of her wearing signs on their boats. The green cross is the emblem of Coimbra. The F 'can also be the Infanta Philippa of Coimbra and' Y 'Isabel, his mother, curiously signed with a Greek Y.. It is also significant that precisely fosin Pinçon the carrying flags with the green cross with Andalusian quite rare but entirely consistent with portoguessos.--JoanKeops (talk) 18:09, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
