[edit]

I have just had to strip this article again - see this series of edits. For future reference:

  • Do not use sources published by Gyan, such as the notorious book by Tyagi. See User:Sitush/Common#Gyan
  • There must be some sort of verification for anyone who is named in a list as being affiliated with a caste/tribal community, and if the person is living then that verification must take the form of self-identification. See User:Sitush/Common#Castelists
  • Do not make things up. If the source doesn't say it, do not pretend that it does. That amounts to misrepresentation of the source rather than paraphrasing and, if you want it put bluntly, it means that you are lying
  • Caste- and tribal-related articles are notorious for wild claims. If you cannot source something, don't say it
  • Do not use works from the British Raj era or even earlier, and particularly not those that are associated with members of the community. The puffery goes on today but in years past it was truly horrendous. Find modern, academic sources wherever possible and note the guidance at WP:HISTRS as well as at WP:RS
  • Do not use barelinks (see WP:LINKROT). See WP:Citing sources for more general advice

Less important but still applicable:

  • There is no need to add a name for a reference if it is only used once
  • There is also no need to show the full Google Books url - you can stop at the page number bit
  • Do not put punctuation after the citation (see WP:REFPUNC)

Hope this helps. - Sitush (talk) 04:34, 20 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Also, do not use royalark.net, which is a self-published source that actually cites itself in places. It wouldn't be so bad if we knew where the information was coming from but when in the case of Indian dynasties we generally do not. - Sitush (talk) 13:14, 28 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
