Crystal Meth wrong info
[edit]The last sentence in the Crystal Meth section is wrong and should be deleted. It says, "It was recently announced via Facebook that Crystal Meth will be his last album & to be fully produced by RZA." However Method Man does not have a Facebook page as he admits to not being on the internet, and RZA has not made any such comment either on his Twitter or other social network profiles. Not to mention there is no link or reference proving this is true, so therefore it remains as speculation and should be taken down immediately. Interviews done with Meth say that the "last album" thing is still just a rumor (not revealed as of yet) and the only thing RZA has said about Crystal Meth is that he's trying to find time to hook back up with Meth for the album amongst his busy schedule, NOT that he's going to outright produce the full album like Tical. Please take this incorrect information down immediately. Wufan10304 (talk) 18:17, 1 July 2012 (UTC)
4:21 Sales?
[edit]Has 4:21 really gone gold? The last numbers I saw put it at around 350,000 or so. Gold is 500,000 Lilwyte 00:21, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
High school
[edit]did he even graduate from high school?
yes he has a high school diploma - LilWyte
where do you get these people that answer these questions. He did not graduate from High School. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.171.160.202 (talk) 16:46, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
Seriously Meth has admitted to not having a high school diploma since he dropped out. Stop answering questions and contributing to the articles when you lack the knowledge of such things. Wufan10304 (talk) 18:17, 1 July 2012 (UTC)
Clothing
[edit]Wasn't Method a part of a clothing campaign? I seem to remember him wearing a certain brand of clothing in magazine ads. Any ideas?
he's been a product spokesperson for Ecko, Johnny Blaze and i think there is one other.
Method Man - Kung-Fu
[edit]I had a thing on here before about how Meth took his name from a Kung Fu movie called Method Man. I'm trying to figure out why it was taken off.
- edit::
nevermind i see it was incorporated into his intro paragraph.
The article's definition of freestyling
[edit]The section that defines east coast freestyling as pre-written stream of consciousness style rhymes seems incorrect to me. Freestyling in every part of the country is defined as rhyming, stream of consciousness style or otherwise, off the top of the head.--Wonderashe 02:57, 17 July 2006 (UTC)Ashley
- Agreed. Written raps are not freestyles. Wufan10304 (talk) 06:01, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

I love Method Man but this article has tons (tons) of biased writing... Just look at the album descriptions.
- Yeah, the status for 4:21 really needs to be removed. Nylex 18:00, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
I agree with this writer as one of his sisters I found that there is a lot of bias and misinformation in this article. Method Man was born on March 2, 1971. Every year I have people sending me emails or calling me on April 1st telling me to tell my brother happy birthday. "I tell them no problem I will tell him happy belated for you"
Birthdate?
[edit]Who is the idiot that keeps putting my brothers birthday at April 1. No matter how many times you list it at April 1 you stupid idiots, my mother still gave birth to him on March 2, 1971. If you are going to print facts then print facts not this bull that's on this site. You people can't get anything right even when the information is handed to you. Clifford Smith, Jr. WAS BORN ON MARCH 2, 1971. No matter what you print that won't change. IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.171.160.202 (talk) 19:14, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
Why does it say that he was born on both April 1, 1971 and March 2nd, 1971? Which one is it? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 209.244.187.212 (talk) 15:11, 13 April 2007 (UTC).
His birthday used to be April 1st on here, but someone changed it to March 2. I think March 2 is his birthday, because on the song "The Motto" off of "The Prequel" he said "I'm a Pisces"... If he were born on April 1 he would be an Aries. But on IMDB it still says April 1st..--Tainted Drifter 10:11, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
I am the person that changed his birthday. I am his older sister and I am getting tired of people calling and sending me messages a month after his actual birthday telling me to wish him a happy birthday for them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.171.160.202 (talk) 16:50, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
Which fool putted 1972 up in here that aint true? his birthday is mar 1
No his birthday is March 2, 1971. (actual fact that's the day my mother birthed him) : )
Λ== ACTUAL BIRTHDATE ==
OK, REFER TO THE "WU-TANG FOREVER" ALBUM BOOKLET, IN ONE OF THE LAST PAGES THEY HAVE A PAGE FOR FANS TO ORDER A "WU-TANG ID CARD". AS AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT IT WILL LOOK LIKE, THEY HAVE ONE MADE FOR METHOD MAN, THE "DOB" SAYS "3/4/??". IT'S HARD TO SEE, BUT IT'S THERE. ALSO METHOD MAN MENTIONED HE WAS A PISCES ON THE SONG "THE MOTTO" OFF OF "TICAL 0: THE PREQUEL". IF HIS BIRTHDAY WAS APRIL 1ST HE'D BE AN ARIES. THEREFORE HIS BIRTHDAY IS DEFINITELY NOT APRIL 1ST, JUST BECAUSE IMDB SAYS SO DOESN'T MAKE IT TRUE. NOW ACCEPT FACTS AND QUIT CHANGING IT TO APRIL 1...--Tainted Drifter 01:58, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
nah he's actually born on march 2..
he says he was born on the same day as dr seuss in a few of his verses..
word.. he also says that line about him beeing a pisces on "the motto"
so yea.. thats his birthday Meth's real birthday is 03/02/71
Then why do these MORONS keep changing the DOB to April 1st?!Tainted Drifter 12:20, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
Because the Wu homepage says it..
Oh yeah? Then why did Method Man say himself he's a Pisces? And that he has the same birthday as Dr. Seuss? Dr. Seuss birthday is March 2nd...and if he was born April 1st he'd be an Aries. I guess a website knows better than the artist himself, huh? Tainted Drifter 04:43, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
on page 14 of the wu tang manual, it says his birthdate is april 1, 1971 Glottis5 (talk) 09:41, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

BIRTHDAY, FOR THE MILLIONTH TIME
[edit]What is it with this? Every single time I edit his birthday to March 2, someone, right away, edits it back to April 1. I even got "threats" from want to-be authoritative Wikipedia figures that they'll suspend my account if I continue to "vandalize" the article. All I'm trying to do is state his CORRECT birthday.
Can any of you tell me why Method Man would say that he's a Pisces in the song "The Motto" if he was born April 1 (which would make him an Aries)? Also, can you explain why he's mentioned that he has the same birthday as Dr. Seuss, which is March 2? No, really, can you? Or because "it says his birthday is April 1 on the Wu-Tang homepage" means that's it for sure? Does the website know better than the artist himself which day is his birthday?
Also, are lyrics valid enough citation for proof? 'Cause if so: "Yo, I was born on the same day as Dr. Seuss; Plenty of friends, henny and gin, who got the juice?" - Method Man
I'm going to continue to change it to March 2, until this matter can be settled.--Tainted Drifter (talk) 02:27, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- Your other points are valid, but I don't think lyrics are a strong enough method of citation. Does Cappadonna really "twist darts from the heart?" :) By the way, not your doing, but this article is horrific. Aren't there any intelligent Method Man fans that can clean it up? There's one section that reads something like: He has a son. And a daughter. He was on MTV Cribs. He has another son. Come on, man. Hrhadam (talk) 00:33, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
- You are comparing a line that Cappa says in a metaphor to a line Meth says in a statement via lyrics. Not the same thing, your point is moot.Wufan10304 (talk) 06:07, 2 July 2012 (UTC)
- The Wutang-Corp website is run by Cilvaringz, not Wu-Tang themselves or any of their management. Just so you guys know. If the birthday is wrong on there, it's because Cilvaringz and his camp messed it up, which is a high possibility. Wikipedia should not be taking info from that website anyway. Wufan10304 (talk) 18:18, 1 July 2012 (UTC)
Biased entry
[edit]I couldn't help but notice that within the first section of the entry that the Wu Tang was named as the best. The last time I checked, simply naming them the best implies opinion, and that is not permitted as per Wikipedia quality standards. I don't dispute the fact that Wu Tang is ill, but in an encyclopaedic entry it is inappropriate to provide opinion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Warhead001 (talk • contribs) 02:10, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
Conflict of name
[edit]Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but in the summary at the top of the page, two different paragraphs either differ in opinions, or are redundant.
"He took his stage name from the 1979 film The Fearless Young Boxer, also known as Method Man. His name also refers to the slang "method", meaning marijuana in his native Staten Island."
"...for "I'll Be There for You/You're all I Need" with Mary J. Blige. Method Man took his name from the kung fu film with the same name."

Gay people and Hip Hop
[edit]Should Method Man's interview Dear Superstar: Method Man in Blender magazine from 2003 be mentioned, namely his comment "I don’t think any gay dude is gangsta, period. How many gangsters you know, from Al Capone up to John Gotti, been gay? You can’t be fuckin’ people in the ass and say you’re gangsta. I’m against gay marriage, too. We’re here to reproduce."? Method Man's day of birth
[edit]What is the real Method Man day of birth? I always thought it was April 1, but Redman on his Twitter wrote: Happy bday to my bruduh Mef.. He about to go in stage on his bday!!!...yea we turnd up!!!. We should check it out as fast as possible Tashivana (talk) 09:45, 4 March 2013 (UTC)
Method Man's Nicknames
[edit]Method Man has a bunch of aliases like Johnny Blaze, Johnny Dangerously, Iron Lung, it would be nice if someone listed those under also known as. But It's whatever.
- The thing is per Template: Infobox musical artist the field is only for official stage names he has released music under. STATic message me! 00:05, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
Article rules
[edit]I want to check before doing any action but this:
"Method Man is perhaps best known as a member of the East Coast hip hop collective Wu-Tang Clan."
A lot of his career is without them and it says "perhaps" are we allowed to use speculation in an article? There's no source, and it seems like someone just guessed it did. SuperGangsterRapper95868686 (talk) 19:44, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
Overuse of 'Method man' to start a sentence
[edit]If you look down to the section on acting career, there are about 10 one line sentences each starting with 'Method Man' it doesn't look or read like an encyclopedia article, and needs revision. There are other ways one can start a sentence.

Date of birth
[edit]In this article: http://espn.go.com/espn/page2/index?id=7115208 there is a quote which states that Method Man and Reggie Bush share the same date of birth, parenthetically mentioning March 2. To quote:
“ | That's because Reggie Bush plays for them," said Method Man, whose real name is Clifford Smith. "He and I are tight when we would hang out at the same barbershop in Los Angeles. He was born the same day as me [March 2]. | ” |
Later in the article, which lacks a published date, it mentions that he is 40 years of age, and is married with three children. This is not adequate in terms of sourcing for a WP:BLP article.
Further, there is a conflict on IMDb, http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0541218/ where it lists his date of birth as April 1, 1971. I have removed both dates for now until such time that an encyclopedic source may be located. If there are any questions please respond here and notify me on my talk page. Age
[edit]In this YouTube video, which is cited in the Wikipedia article, he gives his birth date as March 2. He says the April 1 birth date is a joke, so we know that's straight out. In its biography, AllMusic gives his birth date as April 1, 1971. That is obviously wrong, since it uses the April date. Whether the 1971 date is correct or not seems to be up for grabs. In this article, XXL says his birthdate is March 2, 1969. They got the day right, so maybe they also got the year right, too. However, I don't know how we can tell whether it's really 1971 or 1969. It's probably best to leave the year out until we figure this out. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 06:13, 15 September 2018 (UTC)

Claim about solo(s) on Enter the 36 Chambers is incorrect
[edit]There are no solo tracks on the original US release; MM's solo is a remix on a foreign export and shouldn't be counted. Also, every other track on E36C features at least 2 WTC members.
