As far as I know is that statement wrong: In essence, all modern Ethernet networks are Token ring networks, just switching at faster speeds than their predecessors.
Modern LANs (Ethernet) work complety different than Token ring networks (No Token! No Ring!).
- I just opened this talk page and wanted to comment on the same sentence. Now that I know at least one other person thinks it's nonsense, too, I went ahead and removed it. As you indicated, Ethernet uses CSMA/CD for collision handling, while Token Ring networks use token passing for collision prevention. These are entirely different approaches. Neither does Ethernet use a ring internally (both modern Token Ring and Ethernet use a star topology of course as far as the users are concerned). Aragorn2 14:34, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
