Garretson or Garrison?

[edit]

Captain Miller's obituary in the New York Times, November 6, 1894, identified her father, Andrew Garrison, as still living at the time of her death. Searching online census records (1850 and 1860) for Andrew Miller in Louisville identify him as a Steamboat Engineer and having a daughter named Mary M. of roughly the same age as the good Captain. Additionally, the 1850 census, when Mary was four, identified her mother as Eliza E. Garrison. From 1860 on, census reports identify Andrew's wife's name being Luanna. Luanna is the one most often identified in biographies as Mary's mother. Could John Kleber's research as to her maiden name, and her mother's name, been incorrect?--KMJKWhite (talk) 19:32, 2 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
