what do you think would happen to our crime rate if probation were doen away with completely

crime would go down because a good portion pepole that do crimes tend to be drunk anway.I think it gives them strenghth to do it,

I think the data from Nationmaster should be removed. As mentioned in the article, this is also more relevant of the efficiency of law enforcement. Maybe a murder rate would be a good proxy.

I agree that nationmaster data should be removed. Nationmaster has conflicting and incorrect statistics.

According to the OECD, Australia has highest crime rate, then New Zealand second.

The data from Nationmaster.com serves to illustrate that crime rates are a problematic measure, and they also provide a nice quote to this effect. This is highly relevant to this article, and should not be deleted unless a suitable replacement can be found.
Our NationMaster article gives an example of inconsistent statistics on Nationmaster arising from contradictions in their source, a UN report. -- Avenue 03:01, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Highest crime rate

[edit]

I take strong objection to the information given re the crime rate of Dominica being the highest in the world. This is incorrect and totally fallacious. The source of the the information is obviously not trustworthy. The impact of this information on the tourism industry could be severe given the size of the country. This should be withdrawn or retracted.
