Protecting molestors
[edit]It's ridiculous that this page makes no mention of Bevilacqua's role in covering up priests in the Catholic Church that were raping and molesting children! See [1]70.79.2.136 (talk) 01:30, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
Please add "recently died" to tags
[edit]Cardinal Bevilacqua passed away in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 31, 2012. Please make the necessary changes to the page for a person who recently died, as I am not skilled enough to know all the tags which are needed. Bill S. (talk) 04:41, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
Philadelpia Grand Jury Report
[edit]Cardinal Bevilaqua was among the clergy included in a probe of sexual abusive clergy conducted by the Philadephia grand jury. See the Philadephia District Attorney's website for the entire 423 report (www.philadelphiadistrictattorney.com). The report concluded Cardinal Bevilaqua excused and enabled the sexual abuse of hundreds of children by over 60 priest. Abuse include fondling, as well as anal, vaginal, and oral rape. Instead of protecting children for sexual predators, Cardinal Bevilaqua transferred predatory priests to different parishes, where they could continue to prey on unsuspecting families. The grand jury found within the Archiocese's records evidence of priests who had been transferred so many times that they were running out of places to send him. The Archdioces's strategies for handling sexual abuse cases resulted in far more children being abused, and increased the harm done to these children.
May he rot in hell, and may the hundreds of victims he failed to protect find some peace with this monster's passing. Yes, but if they had included this material there wouldn't have been room to mention his weekly radio show. Yes,but of course if they had included this material there might not — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.173.196.66 (talk) 09:15, 25 February 2012 (UTC)
