That I can explain; the simple reason is that we use whatever day the yearly entry draft starts on as the first day of the new season. There have been attempts to change it in the past but those ultimately went no where, so the start of the draft continues to be the cutoff. So the expansion draft was on the 21st therefore it gets put into the 2016–17 article instead of the current season that started on the 23rd. Deadman137 (talk) 03:45, 30 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Now that the season is officially starting today, I wanted to ask, is there value in including players signed from other leagues? I'm tracking it anyway in my sandbox, and adding sources would be easy. Here's what I'm imagining (collapsed to save space here):
That's a lot harder to keep track of. Could maybe piggyback off of the work caley does over on hfboards, or track eliteprospects transactions page, but it's certainly more difficult to aggregate and compile that, imo. –uncleben85 (talk) 23:16, 4 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
