Rakhtshooy Khaneh Edifice
Appearance
The Rakhtshooy Khaneh Edifice (Persian: بنای رختشویخانه), also known as the Edifice of Rakhtshooy Khaneh, is a historical lavoir (a wash-house for clothing),[1] which lies at the historical center of the Zanjan city and it was built nearly 20th century. This place was used for washing clothes[2] by women around the city. The clothes were washed here in four phases – beginning at one the end of the water canal and ending on the other side.[1]
It was constructed by two brothers named Mashad Akbar and Mashadi Esmail. Akbar was an architect and Esmail was a stone mason.[3] This historic building is currently being used as Zanjan Anthropological Museum.[1]
