Timeline for this Portal

Is there a specific amount of time that Selected articles, Did you Know and Selected Picture items will display before they are changed? *Exeunt* Ganymead | Dialogue? 16:58, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

Pic on the Arts Portal page

[[Image:Augsburg Parktheat size, it is difficult to tell what it is. I think this image is much better and more representative. Are we the ones to decide on this or did someone in charge of the Arts Portal do it? *Exeunt* Ganymead | Dialogue? 17:03, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

If you'd like to replace the present image with a better, feel free. However, the image you've proposed is not better. Any replacement would need to be a photograph in order to be consistent with the other portals. You might be able to find some clearer images in Commons. I found this image after a brief look-about. It might be a satifactory alternative.--cj | talk 08:58, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
That picture might be a bit bland. Perhaps this one? --TBC??? ??? ??? 15:31, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

Added new category: Plays by author

FYI, I went ahead and added and started populating a new category, Category:Plays by author, under Category:Plays. Note that books and albums are similarly categorized, so this sort of standardizes the organization of plays with those other Wiki categories. It also should help people find plays by specific authors using the Category system.

The format I used is really similar to the formats books and albums use. Also, note that since a playwright typically is only one nationality, all his plays likewise are under that nationality, so this allows you to place all that author's plays under a nationality as a subcategory. For example, if John Doe is an American playwright, then "Category:John Doe plays" can be listed as subcategory "Category:American plays|Doe, John". So rather than listing each of John Doe's plays individually under American plays, all his plays are indexed under one subcategory under his name.

Anyway, it doesn't seem like a controversial addition, but if anybody has a problem or question with what I set up, feel free to let me know. Dugwiki 17:21, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Roman theatre

I was surprised to find no article about ancient Roman theatre. I know next to nothing about the subject (hence, why I looked up the article). Can someone do something about this?--24.2.75.186 07:13, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Lots of WP:FA material, and WP:TFAs

There are lots of WP:FA articles to pull from to populate this portal, in fact, you could have a selected article and selected bio sections purely from the WP:FAs that have appeared at WP:TFA. Cirt (talk) 13:47, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Portal peer review

This portal has had a portal peer review, which has since been archived. You may view it here: Wikipedia:Portal peer review/Theatre/archive1. Cirt (talk) 08:02, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Portal icon

As of today, the portals "Culture" and "Theatre" have the same icon. Does somebody has ideas to change one of them? The discussion take place on Portal talk:Culture#Portal icon. Cyrbère (talk) 11:58, 2 March 2014 (UTC).

Notice from the Portals WikiProject

WikiProject Portals is back!

The project was rebooted and completely overhauled on April 17th, 2018. Its goals are to revitalize the entire portal system, make building and maintaining portals easier, support the ongoing improvement of portals and the editors dedicated to this, and design the portals of the future.

As of May 2nd, 2018, membership is at 60 editors, and growing. You are welcome to join us.

There are design initiatives for revitalizing the portals system as a whole, and for improving each component of portals. So far, 2 new dynamic components have been developed: Template:Transclude lead excerpt and Template:Transclude random excerpt.

Tools are provided for building and maintaining portals, including automated portals that update themselves in various ways.

And, if you are bored and would like something to occupy your mind, we have a wonderful task list.

From your friendly neighborhood Portals WikiProject. Hope to see you there. Sincerely,    — The Transhumanist   07:47, 2 May 2018 (UTC)

News box

I'm wondering what should be done about the "News" box on the portal. Currently it populates from the theatre cateogry on Wikinews, but that hasn't been updated since 2015. WikiProject Portals offers the alternative of using {{Transclude selected current events}} to pull relevant stories from Portal:Current events, but in my experience stories relevant to theatre will be a rare thing there. A third option would be to get rid of the News box entirely. There are lots of theatre-related anniversaries, so we could expand the "In this month" box to fill the space. Or maybe there are other possibilities that I haven't thought of. --RL0919 (talk) 21:26, 4 June 2018 (UTC)

I ended up removing the News box and started expanding the Month entries to use the space. --RL0919 (talk) 17:20, 18 September 2019 (UTC)
