John Connolly is an Irish Fianna Fáil politician who has been a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Galway West constituency since the 2024 general election.[1] He had been an unsuccessful candidate in the 2016 Irish general election in Galway West and the 2016 Seanad Election on the Cultural & Educational Panel

Connolly was first elected to Galway City Council at the 2004 Galway City Council election, however he lost his seat in the subsequent elections in 2009. Persuaded by the local party to stand again he regained his seat in 2019 and again in 2024.[2]

Currently the Principal of Athenry National School he lives in Rahoon in the west of the City with his wife, Bernadette and their three children, and is a former Chairperson of Bearna GAA Club.[3]

While a member of the Council John served on the Western Regional Health Forum and was Chairperson of the Council's Operational Development SPC (Strategic Policy Committee).
