The Jama Masjid is a Friday mosque in Bidar, in the state of Karnataka, India.[1]

Architecture

[edit]

From the style of its construction, the mosque was attributed to the late Bahmani period.[1]

The façade has seven arched entrances opening into the courtyard. The middle arch, with a span of 5.2 metres (17 ft), is slightly larger than the others, which have a span of 4.93 metres (16 ft 2 in).

It is topped by a dome, which rests upon an octagonal base. Each side of the base is 3.7 metres (12 ft) long, and 3.20 metres (10 ft 6 in) above the height of the roof. A trefoil-patterned parapet runs along the length of the roof.[1]
