The 2025 Bangladesh Premier League, also known as BPL Season 11 will be the eleventh season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the top-level professional Twenty20 cricket league in Bangladesh.[1] The league will be organized by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).[2] Initially, it was scheduled to take place from 1 January to 11 February 2025,[3] but the commencement date was later advanced to 27 December 2024.[4] In September 2022, the BPL Governing Council announced the seven franchises, which are going to take part in the tournament.[5]

Background

[edit]

The 2025 season's clash with the 2024–25 Big Bash League season concluded on 27 January 2025. The 2024–25 SA20 will start on 9 January and conclude on 10 February, followed by the 2025 International League T20. After the conclusion of all T20 leagues, the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy will begin on 19 February 2025.

There are currently ongoing uncertainties in this season after a change of government in Bangladesh. A few of the franchises may not be available in this season due to the aftermath of this incident. [6]

In September 2024, the ownership rights of the Dhaka franchise was acquired by Shakib Khan's Remark-Herlan Group.[7] Later on, its name was changed into Dhaka Capitals.[8]
