The 2023–24 season was SBV Vitesse's 132nd season in existence and 35th consecutive in the Dutch top division Eredivisie. They also competed in the KNVB Cup.

On 19 April, with four games remaining and occupying the bottom position with 17 points, the club incurred a penalty of 18 points – the most severe sanction of its kind in Dutch history – due to consistent violations of licensing regulations and furnishing inaccurate information to investigative bodies. Consequently, their demotion was officially confirmed.[1]
