Haatozako (ハートザコ) are stage enemies in Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream, only seen on Ellen's and Kana Anaberal's stages. Nothing is really known about this enemy.
Species Basis
Name
The name Haatozako (ハートザコ) is unofficial and it's rather noticeable amongst the Japanese fanbase. Haato (ハート) means "heart" that references its shape; it can also use the kanji kokoro (心) to show Kokorozako (心ザコ). Zako (ザコ) isn't an actual word with an actual meaning, but in video gaming, it generally means "trash", "rubbish", or more specifically, "general enemy". A more literal translation would be "heart enemy".
Appearance
The sprite of Haatozako in Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream shows that it's a red heart-shaped creature with two beady eyes. More can be seen in other colours like green, blue and purple. They also can be seen in different sizes. The small ones are shown to have their eyes closed as though they are happy. It looks very similar to the various hearts that appear in the Mario Series.
Haatozako's Appearance

They're a general enemy during Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream on Ellen's and Kana's stage. They do not shoot danmaku whatsoever, but if defeated, they'll put a small bullet on the opponent's screen. They come in four different colours, each requiring a number of different hits: red (1 hit), green (2 hits), blue (3 hits) and purple (4 hits). There are also 4 different sizes: tiny, small, medium and large.
