Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. Roads/Illinois/Progress Reports
This page is currently inactive and is retained for historical reference. Either the page is no longer relevant or consensus on its purpose has become unclear. To revive discussion, seek broader input via a forum such as the village pump. |
This page is for reporting on the general progress of the WikiProject. This differs from general discussion, as discussion is mostly used to make a specific decision on either policy or format. It also helps give other users a good idea of our thinking processes as the pages are filled out, and gives users an idea of what remains to hit goals or targets we may have set. editMain articles are now done; historical, decommissioned articles will receive a redirect, as all of the notable historical state routes still exist in some form or another. —Rob (talk) 21:54, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

editAfter a short Wikipedia:Wikibreak, there are about 60 pages left go, so the end is near. The end dates have been pushed back about a month owing to a busier schedule. I am still seeking Indiana state highway shields, but they need to find their equivalent of the M1-9 or M1-15, like what other states have. —Rob (talk) 14:55, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

editWork continues; project is 5 pages short of 30 April goal as of today, with Illinois 96 and up not having pages.
There is some level of inconsistency just because of the varying age of the pages involved; I've probably changed how I thought a page should be formatted prior to the WP getting started about 5 times from December 2004 onwards. After the pages have at least placeholders, they'll all get the proper sections, and consistency will be improved.
Also, please note that I will be deleting obviously plagiarized sections of articles when I see them. I know that Rich knows, by far, the most about the history of state routes, but that's no excuse to copy and paste. At the least, reword and properly cite Rich as a source. —Rob (talk) 15:56, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

editAs of April 4, 2006, infoboxes have been included on pages for Illinois Routes 1 through 35. Infoboxes are also present on other pages, but I haven't kept tabs on what. The "first pass" through all Illinois State Routes is to place infoboxes and reference sections on pages that already exist, and create Standard Pages (like Illinois 19) on pages that do not exist. This means if a page has text already on it, I won't create sections unless absolutely necessary.
The second pass will be to clean up the remaining sections and to ensure that the Illinois State Route Infobox is browsable from beginning to end, no redlinks (to other Illinois State Routes). At this point each Illinois SR article should follow the format given in the WikiProject.
The third chunk of work will be to decide how to present historical Illinois State Routes, but this won't be for a long while. The options are that each route gets its own page, or create a new article, perhaps Historical Illinois State Routes.
The fourth chunk of work involves creating pages like Interstate 90 in Illinois. Interstate 80 in California is a good example. —Rob (talk) 18:44, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
