Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Germany
Points of interest related to Germany on Wikipedia: Outline – History – Portal – Category – WikiProject – Alerts – Deletions – Cleanup – Stubs – Assessment – To-do |
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Germany. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Germany|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Germany. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.
This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to Europe.

Semi-professional footballer who mostly spent his career in the reserve team. The only secondary source I found is Raciborz, a brief mention in transfer announcement, but not enough to merit a standalone article of himself. ⋆。˚꒰ঌ Clara A. Djalim ໒꒱˚。⋆ 12:28, 16 December 2024 (UTC)

Unreferenced since 2009. My BEFORE in English and German ("Fritz Reuter Literature Archive") in GS and GB yields nothing. De wiki article has a few refs but they are not easy for me to verify, and the notability of this archive is unclear. I would not be surprised if someone could rescue this, but well, this has been unreferenced for 15 years. Maybe this AfD will motivate someone to help? Otherwise, sorry, WP:V is clearly failed, and WP:GNG is not obvious. For all we know this can be some variant of Zhemao hoaxes. Ping User:Bearian who few days asked for this to be sourced or deleted at WT:GERMANY (nobody replied there so far...). Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 15:35, 14 December 2024 (UTC)

- Comment: subject does exist; apparently it was a private collection of Fritz Reuter related stuff by Hans-Joachim Griephan, and was merged into the Fritz Reuter Literaturmuseum in 2024. Some coverage about the merger in Nordkurier. I can't say how in-depth the offline sources at the German-language wiki article go, but with online sources gng wouldn't be passed. Nyamo Kurosawa (talk) 21:22, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: I agree with Nyamo Kurosawa's observations. Additionally while the Fritz Reuter Literary Archive should be removed for lack of sources, it appears the Fritz Reuter Literature Museum does not lack sources and would be a good candidate for a Wikipedia article. - List of tallest buildings in Lörrach (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
- (Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL)
A small city in Germany with zero skyscrapers (defined as a building taller than 100m) and none planned. Similar case to List of tallest buildings in Gwalior, List of tallest buildings in Bradenton, Florida and List of tallest buildings in Macon, Georgia and many, many other AfDs that we have had over the last few years on similarly non-notable lists of buildings in cities where none of the buildings are actually that tall. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 13:44, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
Additional points for consideration:
- Firstly, the list has no navigational purpose as all of the buildings featured are not notable enough for their own Wikipedia article. For that matter, I don't think it meets any of the 3 purposes at WP:LISTPURP.
- Secondly, this topic does not have WP:SIGCOV in WP:RS. Individual news articles about a handful of the individual buildings in this city do not automatically make an article about the heights of all of the buildings in that city a notable topic.
- I see no evidence that the topic 'List of tallest buildings in Lörrach' is covered as a group by reliable secondary sources but I am happy to be proved wrong here.
- No significant high-rise buildings under construction or even planned currently so little chance of future notability; no point in sending to draft.
- The city is not the largest in Germany nor is it the capital.
- I really do not believe that a building simply being more than 40m tall makes it notable. It's an incredibly low bar. Can you imagine the reaction if we set the bar so low on a similar list for Tokyo or Chicago? There would be literally thousands of towers in those lists.
- The topic is already covered more than adequately at List of tallest buildings in Germany and List of tallest buildings by German federal state, so this list is redundant. Yes, I am aware that none of the buildings in Lörrach are actually tall enough to be in either of those lists but that, if anything, speaks for just how non-notable this topic is! - Comment - more recently we have deleted Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of tallest buildings in Barrie, Ontario, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of tallest buildings in Daegu and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of tallest buildings in Lucknow (2nd nomination) with clear consensus. In my view, Lucknow and Daegu are much more prominent cities than Lörrach on a global scale so I don't see any precedence for having one on Lörrach. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 14:03, 14 December 2024 (UTC)
- delete per ample precedent. What with the disappearance of the Emporis lists it's not even clear that these are the tallest buildings in the city, but even so these are on the short side even compared to the many other places whose lists have been deleted in the past. Mangoe (talk) 04:53, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
- Delete. Clear failure of WP:NOTEVERYTHING. Geschichte (talk) 10:46, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
- Delete, as this list fails WP:NLIST. The skyline is so small that this list includes every single building above 40 meters. Incidentally, that is a very, very low bar to clear (in NYC, where I'm from, a 40-meter building wouldn't make the top 1,000 tallest buildings). – Epicgenius (talk) 13:41, 15 December 2024 (UTC)

- Keep, the corresponding article on the German Wikipedia has several very good sources demonstrating notability (as well as a few iffy ones). Unfortunately they're cited as general referencing rather than specific citations (this is typical for German WP), which makes it hard to carry them over here to back up individual statements, and they're in book form. But they demonstrate the existence of sources, and we can't delete just because we haven't read sources that we definitely know exist. Elemimele (talk) 10:06, 11 December 2024 (UTC)

- Just because it hasn't expanded doesn't mean it's not notable - unfortunately the German wikipedia only has one source so there'll have to be a source search done. SportingFlyer T·C 19:25, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
- The German Wikipedia article has no sources; it has a link to the theater's homepage only. Searching for reliable sources will be hard because it's a semiprofessional theater only, and most mentions will be in guidebooks that list just any other location in the city too, meaning they're no indicator of notability. 13 years and still less information in this article than on Maps shows how notable this location is.
- The reason this article is still live on the German Wikipedia is because there, notability is not based on independent coverage. By the way, there are actually three theaters in this building, and there is no reason to prefer one over the other, so rename this article or create articles for the other two theaters too?
- I tend to soft delete or at least draftify. While WP:Deletion is not cleanup and I don't want to exclude the possibility that the theater has notability, Wikipedia's reputation is based on articles with reliable information; in this form, the article should never have existed. Killarnee (talk) 02:30, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
- I didn't find that to be the case with a source search - there's multiple mentions in both Google Books and Google Scholar, though nothing which instantly tells me that it is clearly notable. I'm not sure it is notable independently of the complex where the two other theatres exist, but I think there's a chance it is notable if someone wants to adopt it. SportingFlyer T·C 03:15, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
- It's in the nature of businesses like theaters that there is something published, because publicity is important for this branch. But do the sources you found just mention the theater or are they about the theater itself? Killarnee (talk) 04:37, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
- My German isn't very good - that's why I mentioned that I didn't see anything that was a clear pass, just mentions, but it has been mentioned more than other articles I've occasionally come across at Afd. SportingFlyer T·C 07:12, 11 December 2024 (UTC)

- Delete unless an editor can furnish several references to reliable sources independent of Thomsen that devote significant coverage to Thomsen. According to WP:ATHLETE,
The article should provide reliable sources showing that the subject meets the general notability guideline
. Meeting a special notability guideline indicates that a topic likely meets the GNG, but is not a guarantee that it does. So, now is the time to furnish the evidence or let the article be deleted. Cullen328 (talk)
