In 2022 I was chosen to be the New Zealand delegate to the 9–11 September Wikimedia Summit in Berlin. Because travelling 36 hours to Berlin only to attend a conference for a few days seemed to fly in the face of a) climate change, and b) jet lag, I applied for funding to spend a month in Europe and take advantage of the opportunity. I was awarded the Paul Reynolds (No Numpties) Scholarship by LIANZA to cover spending time in Berlin, Utrecht, Prague, and Stockholm, to see how OpenRefine is being employed in European galleries, libraries, archives, and museums (GLAM), and how these institutions are engaging with Wikipedia. What I learn will be shared with the New Zealand GLAM community in articles, conference presentations, and training workshops in 2022–2023.
