editWhy is he the only city councilman in West Valley City, Utah with a Wiki article? This should be considered for removal under the notability requirements.
Also, the article is perhaps biased and sounds like self-promotion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Washingtonianbaby (talk • contribs) 15:23, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
He is one of the two city wide councilmembers and is also a regionally notable author. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Biddenden (talk • contribs) 17:29, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
Are most authors of his book's publisher recognized in wikipedia? the book isn't that famous.
Also, is the other city-wide councilmember on wikipedia? most city council members is LARGER cities in more prominent places than West Valley are not on Wikipedia. I think this article is up for review by administrators. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.95.3.75 (talk) 00:08, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
Conflict of Interest Note
editAs some other editor noted, Michael K. Winder has been editing his own page using at a minimum User:Wenjanglau and User:WikiPro24601 to write his own Wikipedia profile, to try to erase negative information, and to remove the conflict of interest warning. The Salt Lake Tribune mentions a User:Biddenden, but I don't see that user.
See: Lee, Davidson (3 March 2017). "Mike Winder accused of manipulating Wikipedia page with multiple accounts in violation of ethics policy". The Salt Lake Tribune. Retrieved 15 March 2017. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.10.71.186 (talk • contribs) 15 March 2017 (UTC)
- User:Biddenden addressed the concerns listed in the Notability template by adding some sources before removing the tag, in 2009. (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Michael_K._Winder&type=revision&diff=282679615&oldid=281734635) ≈≈Carolfrog≈≈♦тос♦ 21:11, 16 March 2017 (UTC)
These edits do not appear to comply with WP:BLP or WP:NPOV. For example, the sub-header "History of Self-Promotion Using Pseudonyms" is not neutral. I replaced it with "Public relations controversies," which I believe gets the point across. Edits should be discussed here first and consensus reached, but please don't blindly revert good-faith edits to this article. Marquardtika (talk) 15:55, 17 March 2017 (UTC)
"History of Self-Promotion Using Pseudonyms" is perfectly neutral. Winder has a history of using pseudonyms to promote himself. he does not deny that history. perfectly neutral and precise. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spiculalinguae (talk • contribs) 16:03, 19 March 2017 (UTC)
- @Spiculalinguae: you need to engage and discuss here rather than reverting multiple editors without explanation. You do not own this article. I've posted to Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard to get more eyes on this article. Marquardtika (talk) 02:46, 19 March 2017 (UTC)
- Wilder's notability is not primarily derived from writings he has published under pseudonyms. The assertion here that "winder's notability as a national figure is entirely dependent on his history of anonymous self-promotion. he otherwise does not meet notability" is patently false. Wilder meets WP:NPOL as a member of a state legislative body. He is primarily notable for being a member of the Utah House. Devoting half of the lede section to a recent newspaper article about him violates WP:UNDUE and WP:RECENTISM, especially since the lede devotes zero coverage to his legislative tenure. Michael K. Winder → Mike Winder – Essentially every single source given states his name as Mike Winder, so this article should be there per WP:COMMONNAME. I would have moved it myself, but there's a redirect with significant history, almost all of it by User:Biddenden, who was involved in a COI issue described in the talk page. Roadguy2 (talk) 02:25, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- This is a contested technical request (permalink). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 06:04, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Roadguy2: Or would it be better to use his full formal name here? Anthony Appleyard (talk) 06:05, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Comment. Since the move request has been already carried out [06:08, 28 February 2019], this nomination should be either closed or the move reverted and the discussion continued. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 08:44, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Anthony Appleyard:/@Alex 21:: Revert to long-standing title during this open RM discussion please. --Netoholic @ 11:19, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Anthony Appleyard: I used to live in Salt Lake, and every time he came up in the news, he was always referred to as "Mike Winder", as referenced by the sources we have. Even his Utah House page uses that name, as do his books. The shorter title is certainly a more recognizable name for him. And in addition, when I checked this last night, it appeared the page was originally at Mike Winder, but it was moved to Michael K. Winder by User:Biddenden (by creating a new page instead of the typical moving process). Since the original redirect has since been deleted, I can't view this information anymore. --Highway 89 (talk) 16:23, 28 February 2019 (UTC) (I was previously Roadguy2 -- renamed overnight.)
- Support per nom. Although he appears to have been published under both variations, his most recent books use "Mike Winder", as does his official website, as do most other sources. PC78 (talk) 16:31, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
