HELP !!!!!!! Please
editThis article is shrinking and expand at an alarming rate and i am not sure what to do. Any ideas? Or better yet, do something? Carptrash 18:44, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
- Rampart, can you explain your reasoning for removing large chunks of the article? The action might be appropriate, but at this stage I can't tell if it is without an explanation. Thanks! --plange 19:21, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
- I am very sorry, everyone. I am having some issues IRL and somehow this has changed me from a serious editor into a violator of WP:POINT. There's no reason for me to take out my stress on Wikipedia, so I will have to take a break from editing until this clears up. Rampart 21:24, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
- I, for one, would appreciate not having to spend time fixing stuff that shouldn't need to be fixed, but (opinion) better yet might be to find a way to channel your stress into energy that can be used here in a productive, positive manner. Wikipedia needs energy, and I bet you have some. Just a thought. Carptrash 22:32, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
Offering an External Link/Reference
editI am not sure what the duress concerning the Noguichi article is about. I was simply glad to see a fairly comprehensive digest of his biography on these pages. I think he deserves even more attention.
That said, I really wanted to offer my own contribution as an external link for those who might enjoy another perspective on the man and his work; mine being a biography in verse, "Noguchi - The Man Who Entered Stone". I did not know how to add this to the 'External Link' section and wasn't entirely sure if it would be appropriate. I do think it offers some perspectives that more academic renderings, by definition, are not able to explore.
In any case, you are welcome to view the work (in progress) at: [ http://home.comcast.net/~redslider/Noguchi/main1.htm ] and judge for yourself. If you think it ought to be associated with the article please let me know, or feel free to include the link as you find suitable. - Red
Non-free images in galleries
editUnfortunately, under the laws of the United States, sculptures and other 3D artworks are copyrighted and there is no freedom of panorama allowed. As a consequence, I have removed photos of all of Noguchi's works in the U.S. Because these are non-free photos, they can only be included under the terms set at WP:NFCC and gallery items that do not visually expand on concepts raised in the text certainly do not qualify. Please find replacements from examples from countries that have acceptable freedom of panorama for sculptures (see Commons:Commons:Freedom of panorama for details). howcheng {chat} 21:50, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
This looks notable enough to have a mention, but all I come up with is a line or two and sources. Those lines could be moved here and remove the link to Octetra. What's your pleasure? Dlohcierekim 22:57, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Need much-expanded coverage of years 1948-1988
editAs I encountered this article at the end of 2021, it has good coverage of the artists's life up through 1948. The last half of his life, from 1948-1988, has only a skeletal coverage in the article, and thus implies that he was not very active during this period. This is manifestly untrue, as Noguchi became world-famous and completed many major commissions during this period, as noted in the article itself. Because of this significant shortcoming, the article should be rated no better than Class C. Reify-tech (talk) 23:56, 2 January 2022 (UTC)

Deportation order?
editAt the moment I am typing this, this article contains the text "... he soon afterward received a deportation order" followed by no footnote or explanation. I'm not saying he DID NOT receive such an order, but, rather, that it's so mind-boggling that it should have some documentation or explanation. This sculptor was born in Los Angeles in California at a time when California was part of the United States Of America. What we would EXPECT to follow from that fact is that he was always an American citizen. The article doesn't ever say anything to the effect that at some point he ceased to be a United States citizen (or at least I can't find the text "citizen" in this article). Therefore the tale of the "deportation order" is puzzling. Something is missing or not adding up. How do you deport someone who isn't an alien? Where would you deport them TO? Japan? Sending a U.S. citizen to a country with which the U.S. was at war? It's really very doubtful. I could be made to believe it if I were presented with more facts, but where are they? Not in this article.2600:1700:6759:B000:E894:BFCC:705D:880 (talk) 15:14, 10 November 2024 (UTC)Christopher Lawrence Simpson
