His Religion?
editComing from a once predominantly Christian Boer ethnic group it's be interesting to see if this man himself is a professing Christian or not Invmog (talk) 22:10, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
As far as I know, yes. After the full-time whistle of the '95 World cup final he fell to his knee and most of the team joined him, apparently in prayer. Have no refs for that though... Sahmejil (talk) 11:03, 25 December 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, I remember reading how he commented that they did that because they were all Christians. Then, remembering Joel Stransky, he corrected himself and said that they were all believers. My Dinner With Andre The Giant (talk) 07:06, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
Captaincy
editIt's listed twice on this page that his captaincy was succeeded by Tiann Strauss. He was captain from 1993-1996, with two games off - once replaced by Strauss in 1994 and the other by Adriaan Richter against Canada at the RWC in 1995. His real successor should be listed as Gary Teichmann. My Dinner With Andre The Giant (talk) 07:06, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
- I understand that it is indeed the way it is commonly talked about, but this refers to the historical list of springbok captains. If you look at historically, in the way of "who earned this title, in what order" it makes sense. This is in my mind also the only way of doing such comparisons truly objectively.Sahmejil (talk) 07:41, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Move proposal
editIt should be Francois Pienaar as the cedilla is not used in Afrikaans. Roger (talk) 12:12, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
- Taking silence to signify assent, I am going ahead with the move. Roger (talk) 23:00, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- The S.A. Rugby site uses Francois, so I am retrofitting. Varlaam (talk) 23:21, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
- The Afrikaans Springboks page also uses Francois for Pienaar. Varlaam (talk) 23:45, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
