Production
editIt was announced in February 2022 that Steven Spielberg was developing a new film involving the character Frank Bullitt, previously played by Steve McQueen in the 1968 film Bullitt. Spielberg plans to direct, with Josh Singer writing the screenplay. Chad and Molly McQueen, son and daughter of Steve, will executive produce after Spielberg was granted permission from the McQueen estate to use the character. Spielberg had hoped to shoot the film following West Side Story, but due to the negotiations with McQueen's estate taking longer than expected, he chose to direct The Fabelmans first instead.[1] In November, it was announced Bradley Cooper was cast to portray the titular character, and would also join as a producer.[2]
