Not to be confused with Blade of the Pale.

The Pale Blade is a unique, leveled Ancient Nord Sword that appears in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Acquisition[]

The Pale Blade can be looted from the body of Ra'jirr after he is killed by The Pale Lady in Frostmere Crypt.

Choosing to place The Pale Blade on the pedestal nearby will appease The Pale Lady, and she will leave. However, picking up The Pale Blade again will cause her to reappear. In order to keep the weapon, she must be defeated.

Smithing[]

The Pale Blade can be upgraded with a Steel Ingot and the Arcane Blacksmith perk at a grindstone. It also benefits from the Steel Smithing perk, which doubles the improvement.

Usefulness[]

  • The sword is useful for depleting the stamina of enemy warriors. The Pale Blade's highest level provides double the stamina drain effect than usual at 50 points. This makes it the highest stamina drain effect acquirable without enchanting.
  • Enemies affected by the fear enchantment can be slowed down by the blade’s frost damage, making it easier to follow fleeing enemies and finish them off.
  • Both ranks of Augmented Frost and Dukaan's unique effect increase the blade's fear enchantment to affect up to level 28 characters and creatures, although the increase will not be shown on the weapon. The level can be further increased by using fortify destruction potions.

Levels[]

The damage, weight, and value, as well as the magnitude of the enchantment, are contingent on the level the Dragonborn is when the sword is obtained. The best possible version of the weapon is available at level 27.
