Walkthrough[]

At the ruins of Shada's Tear, at the bottom of the waterfall, you will find a man named Greban. He will tell you that he and his research team were researching Shada's Tear, but half the team drank from the water here which turned out to be cursed. They grew very strong and started attacking everything that moves. His boss is inside the ruins trying to find a solution; Greban will ask you to go talk to him.

Head into the ruins and talk to Sali'ma there. He will tell you that this ruin was created by Nereid-worshipping Nedes, under the leadership of a nereid called Shada. The main chamber is currently inaccessible due to the polluted water, but the water seems to be flowing in from the two wings on the side. Sali'ma suspects that there are nereids there corrupting the water, and will send you to go and deal with them.

Take care to avoid falling in the water; it will kill you. In the west, you will find the crypt wing. There is a man named Nhalan here, who will give you the quest "The Reason We Fight." That quest takes place in the same areas as this one, so it is efficient to do both simultaneously. Either way, head through the corridors to the southern chamber to face the Nereid Emi'liah. She will summon other enemies to her aid, but more important are the vortexes she summons in the water on the floor; these will pull you underwater and make you take massive damage, so stay on the move and watch out for those. Once Emi'liah is dead, head through the door in the north of the room to get back to the start of the crypt wing, then head back out. You will see that the waters on the west side have been cleansed.

In the east is the City Wing. You will find several nereids in the waterways here. In the first big room, you will find a woman named Ralai on the balcony; she will give you the quest "Waters Run Foul". That quest takes place in the same areas as this one, so it is efficient to do both simultaneously. Either way, proceed to the northeasternmost room; here, you will find the nereid Jah'lah. This nereid likes to hide underwater and cause geysers of poisoned water to spout from below; stay on the move when she does this. She also likes to summon other enemies to her aid; there is no point in killing these, as she will only summon new ones once the old ones are dead. Once Jah'lah lies dead, head north through the door to the beginning of the City Wing, and then back to the main room. You will find that the waters on the east have now been purified.

Once both wings have been purified, head back to the main camp and talk to Sali'ma. He will tell you that Shada awaits in the city's Temple Wing, across the now-cleansed water. Head across and Shada will warn you to leave. Do not be dissuaded; clear through the enemies and head on into the temple wing. Proceed onward, and in the room with the spiders, take the road to the right. From here on, the road is straightforward, if long. In the southern room, there is a spider miniboss called Muhma the Stinger, but you can avoid her if you keep your distance. Head on to the northeasternmost room; this is where you will find Shada herself. Shada will summon minions to her aid, but most of those can be safely ignored. There are two exceptions to this though: every once in a while she will summon four maidens to create a shield around her; these must be killed before she can be damaged again. When she talks about the magic of her most powerful servant, she will summon four very powerful mages to the battlefield. These mages will use a very powerful spell to annihilate you; this spell cannot be blocked and can only be survived with a timely dodge. Needless to say, taking out these mages should be your number one priority the moment they appear.

Once you have taken out Shada, head back to Sali'ma; you can take a shortcut back by heading up the stairs behind Shada and through the door. Speak with Sali'ma to finish the quest.
