- "I am Nurnhilde, Queen of the Nords. I come to you from Sovngarde with an urgent demand."
- ―Nurnhilde[src]
Nurnhilde, the eldest child of Mabjaarn Flame-Hair, was the heir to the throne of Windhelm,[1] and briefly the High Queen of Eastern Skyrim.[2] She was killed, along with her mother, in the sack of Windhelm.[1]
During the Three Banners War, her body and the Crown of Freydis were stolen from the royal crypts at Fort Morvunskar by her brother Fildgor Orcthane. He hoped to use sorcery to merge his sister's spirit with his so that the Crown would accept him as the High King of Skyrim. Nurnhilde enlisted the Vestige's aid, and Fildgor was stopped in Sovngarde as he was trying to merge with his sister's spirit.
