Mryfwiil the Withdrawn was Harbinger of the Companions several hundred years after the death of Ysgramor.[1]

Up until this point, the Companions had evolved into a group of soldiers for hire. Typically, their services would be purchased to fight wars, even if it meant they faced each other on the field of battle.
Mryfwiil the Withdrawn foresaw that this path would lead to their eventual destruction and decreed that the Companions would no longer be party to any war or political conflict of any kind.
The decreed was upheld and the Companions today are known as impartial arbiters of honor, in addition to their glories on the field of battle.[1]
