- "One of my predecessors was a good, but short-sighted man. He made a bargain with the witches of Glenmoril Coven."
- ―Kodlak Whitemane[src]
The Glenmoril Wyrd (also known as the Witches of Glenmoril) are witches from the Glenmoril Witches Coven, and have the knowledge of how to cure lycanthropy. Some witches of Glenmoril can turn themselves into animal forms, such as ravens.[1] They are seen as rivals of the Cyrodiil Vampyrum Order.[2]
The Glenmoril Wyrd Coven are known to be Hircine worshippers. Unlike other covens the Glenmoril are everywhere, mostly in the cities, while other witches live in seclusion.
The witches of the coven know how to cure lycanthropy through two ways. One method is a ritual called the 'Rite of the Wolf Giver', in which an innocent person is required to be slaughtered by the afflicted lycanthrope. The other is the Scroll of the Wolf Ender, which the witches can make. However, even though the witches of Glenmoril know how to make the scroll, they still choose to do the ritual.
Melisande is rumored to be one of the last witches of Glenmoril.[3] She knows how to cure vampirism, and she offers this to the Hero of Kvatch in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.[4] It is unknown if the entire Coven also shares this secret.

The Companions[]
Terrfyg, a Harbinger of The Companions, made a pact with the Glenmoril Witches which stated that if the Companions hunted in the name of their lord, Hircine, they would be granted great power. This great power turned out to be lycanthropy. The pact also stated that the lycanthropy was meant to be temporary, but for reasons unknown this was untrue and the Companions were deceived into becoming Werewolves permanently.
This endured up to the Fourth Era, when Kodlak Whitemane, Harbinger of the Companions, viewed the lycanthropy as a curse and strove to cure himself and the other members with the help of the Dragonborn. However, other members viewed it as a blessing, and therefore, the tradition held, much to the distaste of Kodlak. Kodlak's final request to the Dragonborn before dying at the hands of the Silver Hand is that they hunt down and kill the Coven and bring back their heads, which are then used to cure Kodlak posthumously of his lycanthropy by casting out and killing the werewolf's Wolf Spirit.
