I can't believe I let Skeggr talk me into this again. If he just wanted to get drunk and swap stories, we could have done that in front of a nice fire back in Windhelm, instead of on this godforsaken mud flat.
"But the fish are biting,
" "The catch will more than pay for the trip!." Yeah, right―if we don't get iced in first. His boat's already taking on water. I guess we'll try again tomorrow. If we don't catch something then, I'm heading home, with or without him.Fisherman's Journal 2:[]
A decent catch of fish is getting harder to come by. Without a good spot soon, I don't thinks we'll survive the next winter, so I'm traveling further south towards Lake Ilinalta. Folks say it's cursed. Whole Imperial Fort just sank into the water one day, and they say the ruins have been haunted since.
When I asked, I got ghost stories. Tales of people who went out near the lake and never came back. They say spirits haunt the hallways of the sunken fort and steal little children from their mothers' cribs. No amount of coin could convince any of the nearby villagers to guide me there, so I'm following the
.Divines protect me. I hope the stories aren't true.

Can you believe our luck?
We've stumbled onto a gold mine. Or, more accurately, a Dwarven metal mine. A staggering amount of scrap lies along the bottom of this frozen lake. Had we known how lucrative this trip would be, we would have brought wagons, not buckets.
Strange machines still stand just above the water. If we could only find what powers them! Riches surely lie in wait, and we can hang our fishing rods up for good. I'll bet we'll find it here, amongst the rest of the scrap. We just need to keep doing what we know how to do best. Fishing.
Sometimes I see a glint, a faint glow at the bottom. But when I cast my line in or try to swim to the bottom to retrieve it, it eludes me.

No luck. We still haven't managed to fish up whatever it is that might power these machines. Jorid jokes we'll need a Dwarven fishing rod to solve this decidedly Dwarven mystery. Schematics are said to lie in a ruined tower at Alftand, in the mountains up north.
When people speak of me tomorrow, they won't say, "here comes Faldrin, the fisherman." They'll say, "here comes Faldrin, the treasure hunter!" We leave for Alftand at first light.
