Lupin the 3rd Part 1 (ルパン三世 Rupan Sansei) is the first anime series adaptation of Monkey Punch's Lupin III manga series. The series was originally broadcast as simply Lupin III between October 24, 1971 and March 26, 1972. Among English-speaking fans, this series is commonly known as the "Green Jacket" series in reference to Lupin's outfit.
In 2021, the series was dubbed into to English for the very first time by Rocket Sound and Discotek Media, 50 years after the series' release in Japan.

Notes[]
- The series was allegedly first dubbed into English in 1972 under the title The Viper, and aired in the United States. Little is known about this dub, and a thorough investigation by the Lost Media Wiki was unable to turn up any evidence of its existence.
- Pioneer Entertainment had considered licensing the series back in 2003, but they decided to go with Lupin the 3rd Part 2 instead, likely due to its more lighthearted tone in contrast to Part 1.
