Gullray Beast is a boss monster in Dragon Quest X and a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series.

He was one of the four demon generals directly under Maldragora's right-hand man, Demon Marshal Zerudorado, alongside Phantom General Fuzzma, the spider Gejura, and the two sisters Belinda and Brenda. He was first met and defeated while he was stalling the Hero, Anlucia and Luchenda from pursuing Zerudorado and the resurrected and brainwashed Toma, who were entering the treasure chamber of the temple of Grand Zenus in order to destroy the relic stored there, the God's Scarlet Stone, as once it was gone, it would allow the False version of Rendacia created by Maldragora to start eroding the Real one and take its place.
According to his Encyclopedia's description, Gullray Beast is actually the son of the cousin of Demon Zongaron, the feared demon that terrorized Orgreede before being sealed. Furthermore, when the Hero travelled to the past Orgreede, he met the extended family of the previous King Soltogrin; in a sidequest, an Ogre boy named Zange is met, and, after he already had tinted his hair in orange, is helped to change is name to Gullray. Considering that it is also revealed that Zongaron was actually the Ogre King Soltogrin, corrupted into a monster, it is highly likely that they are one and the same. 10 years after the sealing of Zongaron, the ogre Gullray would visit one of the Heirs of War, illusions created by Dark Deity of War created by Jagonuba, after which he was likely transformed into the monster he was in the present.
