The Blizzard blade is a recurring sword weapon in the Dragon Quest series. When used as a tool in battle, it casts Crackle on enemies.

Appearances[]

Dragon Quest III[]

The snow sword has an attack bonus of +90. It can only be equipped by the Hero and Warriors.

Dragon Quest V[]

The blizzard blade has an attack bonus of +105. It can only be purchased in Precaria for the high price of 21,000 gold. It is also restrictive, as only Tuppence and some monster companions can wield it.

The sword's description states that it deals extra damage to those weak to ice, and the bonuses are calculated as thus: no resistance=150% damage, 20% resistance=130% damage, 67% resistance=115%, and immunity=normal damage calculation.

Dragon Quest VII[]

The snow sword has an attack bonus of +105 and an appearance bonus of +38. It can be equipped by the HeroKiefer, and Aishe. It casts Crack after attacking an enemy, hitting for half the original damage before resistances apply.

Dragon Quest VIII[]

The blizzard blade has an attack bonus of +90 and deals half of its melee damage as crack type damage, before resistances apply.

Recipe: Bastard sword + Icicle dirk + Cold cheese

Dragon Quest Swords[]

This weapon is made by tempering the Frost sword with 8 Monsterbones, 3 Iron Ores, and 3 Ice Crystals, having an ATK bonus of +58. It also teaches the Hero the Tundra Sunderer Master Stroke, and can be tempered into a Wrath of Boreas.

Dragon Quest Tact[]

Obtained by clearing the Crack-type Equipment: Ultra quest, it increases the potency of Crack type attacks by 2, while increasing HP by +36 and ATK by +11, in addition to increasing Crack type physical and breath attacks by +2% and +3%, making it useful for Killing machines and Great dragons. It is also a skill that Goodian has when summoned by the Hero's Call Ally skill, dealing 75% physical Crack damage to 1 enemy 4 times and costs 49 MP to use.

Dragon Quest: Legend of the Hero Abel[]

A weapon used by Gabriel to seal away General Rudolph 5,000 years ago, it is found by Abel, who accidentally frees the villain by removing it from his throat.
