When Cortez and his armies decimated the Aztec Empire, an underground network of indigenous women secreted away the treasure that had been amassed in the surrounding empires for centuries. After the women hid the treasure, they created a map to its location and divided it into three pieces, which were formed into three puzzle box cubes. These cubes were then separated between the Aztec, Incan, and Mayan people, with the idea that once the conquistadors were vanquished, they would come together again and rejoin the pieces of the map and find the treasure. Overtime, these boxes were lost, and the existence of the treasure became nothing more than a legend. Two thousand years later, the three cubes would be found and reunited by Jess Valenzuela, a descendant of the Daughters of the Plumed Serpent, in her quest to find the treasure.
The Boxes[]
The puzzle boxes are small cubes made out of obsidian, jade, and blue lapis. All three boxes have three dials on top featuring symbols of Inca, Maya, and Aztec. These dials are locked by a compass inside the boxes, and will only unlock if the boxes are pointed due north. Then by dialing the correct combination, the boxes will detach into six pieces, revealing sections of the treasure map on the inside. If those pieces are matched together correctly, they will give the exact location of Montezuma's treasure.
The obsidian box was given to the Aztec Triple Alliance, and was lost for centuries until it was found by Rafael Rios. It was hidden inside the base of an angle statue in a church in Mexico City. However, others, who were also searching for the treasure, came after Rafael and his family for the box. Somehow, the box ended up in the safe possession of Peter Sadusky, who hid it in the Freemason's Masonic Lodge, and left behind a clue in a photo of him with his son and grandson, pointing to its whereabouts. Twenty-one years later, the box was found again by Rafael's daughter, Jess. With her natural talent for solving puzzles, she was able to open the box, uncovering the first sections of the treasure map. This box would later end up in the hands of Billie Pearce after trading it for Jess's friend, Oren, whom she kidnapped and held for ransom. However, Jess was later able to steal it back, along with the Jade box.
Peter Sadusky found the jade box in CÃbola. He gave it to his son, Jack Sadusky. But just two days after handing it over, he died in a diving accident, and the box was lost. The Jade box, at some point, ended up in Billie Pearce's possession, and at the time didn't know how to open it. Once the secret of the obsidian box was figured out, Billie was able to open the jade box, revealing more sections of the map inside. Jess would later steal Jade box from Billie, along with the obsidian box.
