Oliver James Platt is a Canadian-born American actor, voice actor, and comedian, For Disney, he is known for playing Porthos in Disney's 1993 film The Three Musketeers and Paul Bunyan in Disney's 1995 film Tall Tale, as well voicing Everburn in Sofia the First. He also posed as the Mad Hatter in "Where Wonderland is Your Destiny" in the Disney Dream Portrait Series. Additionally, he played Fulvio Nesstra in Gun Shy, Ben Goodrich in Simon Birch, Rupert Burns in Bicentennial Man, Tommy Fawkes in Funny Bones, Doug Reed in Hope Springs, and Paprizzio in Casanova. For Hulu/FX, he played Jimmy "Cicero" Kalinowski in The Bear.

Platt was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada moved to the United States when he was three months old. Having moved a lot due to his father's service officer career, Platt lived between countries. After watching a young Morgan Freeman perform at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., Platt took an interest in acting which he claimed helped him gain some stability in his childhood. He majored in drama at Tufts University and performed in various stage productions in Boston and New York City.

Making his film debut in 1988's Married to the Mob, Platt has appeared in films such as Working Girl, Flatliners, Beethoven, Benny and Joon, A Time to Kill, Executive Decision, Dr. Dolittle, Lake Placid, 2012, X-Men: First Class, and Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return. On television, he is best known for his role as Paul Jamison in the Showtime comedy-drama series The Big C and Dr. Daniel Charles in Chicago Med and its spinoffs since 2015. His other television credits include Miami Vice, Deadline, The West Wing, Huff, Nip/Tuck, The Bronx Is Burning, Fargo, The Good Wife, Modern Family, American Dad!, and The Bear.
