Marne-la-Vallée is a "ville nouvelle" ("new town", a regional development policy implemented in France in the 60s) located near Paris, France which serves as the home of along with the neighbouring hotels.

Background[]

Marne-la-Vallée has been gradually built up since the first plans in 1965 as part of a project to face the rapid development of the Parisian agglomeration and now covers an area of over 1,500 acres and includes 26 communes, in the départements of Seine-et-Marne, Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne. The total population in 2016 was 316,171. Disneyland Paris, Walt Disney Studios Park and Disney Village are all in the fourth zone, "Val d'Europe".

The development began on the valley of the south bank of the Marne river, made up of small villages not very urbanized at the time, ideal for their vast and unused lands. Two train lines (RER A and E), a high speed train station and a highway all serve Marne-la-Vallée. By now, the oldest districts are located in the two first zones and their development is almost complete while the two last zones (including "Val d'Europe") are still in the midst of theirs.
