"Highway to Trouble" is an episode of Walt Disney Presents. It aired on March 13, 1959.
Synopsis[]
Donald Duck is furious when he gets his nephews' report cards and finds that they flunked geography, a fact proven by their claim that Disneyland is the capital of California. Donald's inner voice (voiced by Cliff Edwards) suggests that he stimulate their interest by taking them to the places they're supposed to be learning about, so he packs the car and takes the boys on a cross-country road trip. Of course, the boys are in no mood and would rather visit Disneyland, so they take a suitcase full of comic books to keep themselves entertained.
The first leg of their trip takes them up California, passing such landmarks as Mount Whitney, the Mission San Carlos Borromeo, and Sutter's Mill; to Donald's chagrin, the boys are more interested in comics than seeing the sights. The family eventually makes a rest stop at a cabin in the Pacific Northwest, where the boys decide to hunt for mountain lion. After a harrowing close call with a real mountain lion, they take off in their car to continue their trip, with the lion following them in hot pursuit. Stopping at the Grand Canyon, where the boys go to the local natural history museum (mainly to buy more comics) while Donald explores the canyon as the lion stalks him. By the time they're through, both duck and lion make a huge mess that they're forced to clean up.
The family continues their geography trip through the midwest, stopping during wintertime in "the old country" for a day of ice-skating and hockey. Afterward, they stop in Boston Harbor, where Donald rents a boat and takes his nephews sailing down the New England coast. Finally, Donald takes the boys down south to the Florida Everglades, where he plays a trick on them at the "Fountain of Youth" before tangling with an angry alligator. Fed up with traveling, Donald finally decides to take the boys to Disneyland, where he mistakes the Autopia for a parking lot and drives the car into a lagoon. The show ends with a montage of the family having many fun adventures at the Magic Kingdom.
