The Gym Teacher is a character who appears in the 2012 Disney film, Frankenweenie.

Background[]

This woman serves as a gym teacher who is seen with brown hair with two pigtail hair sticking out. She is always seen wearing a tracksuit, hence her name. She is also shown to be a very strong woman, due to her duty in serving as a gym teacher. Despite that, she seems to become easily enraged. When she took over Mr. Rzykruski's position as science teacher, she doesn't seem to know much about science when she becomes a substitute teacher for science class where she instead preferred that the best student win the school's science fair. In spite of being strong and independent, she is shown to have a fear of rats such as the case when she encountered the Were-Rat.

Role in the film[]

The gym teacher is first seen at the beginning of the film where she serves as as the umpire during a baseball game. During the match, Victor gets his first home run, causing the gym teacher and everyone in the baseball field to react in surprise. Later when Mr. Rzykruski leaves the New Holland Elementary School with his belongings, the gym teacher erases Mr. Rzykruski's name from the blackboard where she substitutes to be the new science teacher - however, she preferred that the best student win the science fair.

When Edgar "E" Gore knew of Victor who brought Sparky back to life, he finds a rat carcass and plans to bring it to life to remind him of Victor's plans, where he places the wire cables onto the rat at the area where the gym teacher was at earlier. Soon as the gym teacher walks across the school hall during night time and enters the class where she was teaching earlier. When she enters, she finds the mutated rat which evolved into a hideous-looking Were-Rat, frightening her in fear. She is last seen amongst the other citizens running in fear during the Dutch Day festival. It is unknown of what happened to her after that, even after the Were-Rat was electrocuted to death after it bit the screw on the left side of Sparky's head, causing it to revert to its lifeless normal form.

Trivia[]

  • The gym teacher was inspired by Tim Burton's old gym teacher in real life.
  • She is the first civilian who was chased by monsters during the climax of the film (in this case, the Were-Rat).
