Gavin Lee is an English stage actor, singer, dancer, and choreographer, who appeared in Disney Theatrical Productions of Mary Poppins as Bert and Beauty and the Beast as Lumiere.
Lee was born in England and graduated from the Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts. He made his West End debut as Seymour in Bugsy Malone in 1983. He has been involved in various musicals as a performer and choreographer for West End and Broadway productions, such as A Saint She Ain't, Zip Goes a Million, Saturday Night, Top Hat, Oklahoma, Show Boat, Jubilee, Les Misérables, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Sound of Music, Oliver!, and SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical, where originated the role of Squidward Tentacles.
In 2004, Lee auditioned to be the Bert understudy in the London production of Mary Poppins, but won the role outright. From 2004 to 2013, Lee played the role on West End and Broadway stages and on tour. He was nominated several awards and won a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical. In June 2019, he appeared at Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, New Jersey, taking on the role of Lumiere in a revival of Beauty and the Beast. He reprised the role in the 2021 UK tour which later transferred to the West End's London Palladium for a limited engagement beginning June 2022.
Onscreen, Lee has appeared in Beyond the Sea and the 2003 film adaptation The Phantom of the Opera and television shows, such as White Collar, The Good Wife, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Little America.
