Since the advent of DVD, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has released several "Special Edition" or "Anniversary Edition" VHS, DVDs, and Blu-rays of their theatrical feature films, often to commemorate a milestone anniversary of the film's release. Unlike the earlier Classic, Masterpiece, and Gold Classic Collections, these releases do not seem to be a uniform collection of videos, though recent Blu-ray releases seem to have similar designs on the cover art.

Trivia[]
- The Russian Special Edition release of Bionicle: Mask of Light was the only Miramax film to receive a Disney DVD special edition release.
- It is also the only Disney DVD special edition release to be based on a pre-existing licensed property that wasn't an adaptation of a book, but rather a toyline.
- Air Bud: Golden Receiver and Air Bud: World Pup were the only Dimension films to receive a Disney special edition release.
- Additionally Bionicle: Mask of Light, Air Bud: Golden Receiver and Air Bud: World Pup are the only films to have received a Disney DVD special edition release that are no longer owned by The Walt Disney Company.
- Disney lost the rights to Bionicle: Mask of Light as a result of their sale of Miramax Films to Filmyard Holdings in 2010, while the original Air Bud films have since reverted back to Air Bud Entertainment.
- The rights to Bionicle: Mask of Light are now co-owned by beIN Media Group and Paramount Global through Paramount Pictures since 2016 and 2019 respectively.
