Emily Jean "Emma" Stone is an American actress, who is best known for her film roles as Wichita in the 2009 post-apocalyptic zombie comedy film Zombieland, Olive Penderghast in the 2010 teen comedy-drama film Easy A, Hannah Weaver in the 2011 romantic comedy film Crazy, Stupid, Love, Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man films, Sam Thomson in Alejandro González Iñárritu's 2014 black comedy-drama film Birdman (in which she garnered a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress), Mia Dolan in Damien Chazelle's 2016 romantic musical film La La Land (in which she won an Academy Award for Best Actress), and Abigail Masham in the 2018 period black comedy film The Favourite (in which she received another nomination for Best Supporting Actress). She also voiced Mazie the Australian Shepherd in the 2010 live-action adaptation of Marmaduke and Eep Crood in DreamWorks' 2013 animated film The Croods and its 2020 sequel.

For Disney, she played Eugenia "Skeeter" Phelan in DreamWorks/Touchstone's period drama film The Help and voiced Ivana in the The Suite Life of Zack & Cody episode "Crushed". She was also mentioned in the Bizaardvark episode "Paige is Wrong", and portrayed Cruella De Vil in Craig Gillespie's 2021 live-action One Hundred and One Dalmatians prequel/spin-off Cruella. Additionally, she served as the executive producer of Cruella, alongside Glenn Close (who previously played Cruella De Vil in the 1996 live-action adaptation of 101 Dalmatians and its 2000 sequel 102 Dalmatians). She also portrayed Bella Baxter in the 2023 Searchlight Pictures film Poor Things (in which she also served as a producer).

Stone was born in Scottsdale, Arizona, to Jeffrey Charles Stone, the founder and CEO of a general-contracting company, and Krista Jean Stone (née Yeager), a homemaker. She lived on the grounds of the Camelback Inn resort from ages 12 to 15. She has a younger brother, Spencer. Her paternal grandfather, Conrad Ostberg Sten, was from a Swedish family that anglicized their surname to "Stone". She also has German, English, Scottish, and Irish ancestry.
