David Louis Newman is an American film and stage composer, conductor, and orchestrator, best known for composing the 20th Century Fox fanfare since 1997. He has also composed musical scores for nearly 100 feature films, such as Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, the 1996 adaptation of Matilda, Throw Momma from the Train, The Sandlot film trilogy, Coneheads, The Nutty Professor films, Anastasia, Ice Age, The Spy Next Door, and many others.
His Disney compositions include The Brave Little Toaster, DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp, The Mighty Ducks, Operation Dumbo Drop, and 102 Dalmatians. He also wrote the score for Touchstone Pictures films, such as Disorganized Crime, Mr. Destiny, and Paradise. Additionally, he composed Miramax movies, such as Duplex. He also wrote the score for the 2021 film version of West Side Story.
